Do WizTV also not read posts to their contacts page?

Post by prl » Sat Dec 20, 2008 15:37

Several days ago I noticed that all the firmware download links on the WizTV Support page were broken, returning "404 - File or directory not found" errors.

I sent a message via the contact page straight after I noticed it, never got a reply, and the download links are still borken.

Is there anyone at home there? Given that it's presumably DPG behind the contact page, should I not be surprised?

Anyway, there goes trying to help them.

only 2 days ago eh, join the queue behind the 100s per day of duplicate, triplicate and quadruplicate emails (can't people just press send once!) complaining that they:
a. didn't get their password email.
b. don't see anything when they press the wiztv button.
c. get a page not found error when they press the wiztv button.
d. get 'unknown error' messages when trying to register.
e. haven't thought to find the firmware on the beyonwiz site when the links on the wiztv site don't work.
f. are annoyed that the act is considered part of nsw.
cheers

Hi Dave,

Perhaps add a WizTV FAQ here and on the Beyonwiz and WizTV websites. Also consider using an E-Mail auto responder of the FAQ (or a link to the FAQ) if WizTV is mentioned in the incoming E-Mail message. That should help cut down the E-Mail volume.

(If you use an E-Mail auto responder please remember to offer an alternate E-Mail address so that if the FAQ doesn't help the user can still get to a support person.)

Regards,
Ian.

Auto replying won't work at DPG's end because the mail is forwarded from the wiztv website with 'enquiries@wiztv.com.au' as the sender (unless Peter wants to set it up on the server...).

Actually, the WizTV service server or the wiztv.com.au domain do not accept email. Thats' one of the reasons there is a Contact Us page on the web server. I don't know what the setup is on the web page server, it's handled by someone else, but presumably it's consistent with what happens with the beyonwiz.com.au site. One way of handling responses would be to modify the web form to set the ReplyTo: email header to the email address that the user supplied in the contact form.

As far as some pre-screening of email, several organisations use a small questionnaire to classify the contact form requests (such as, sales, tech support, press/media) and then subsequently offer a checklist of "Have you tried this?" type of suggestions to screen the tech support enquiries. Perhaps that would weed out many of the repeated messages.

As for Dave's a), d) and f) - those should be mostly sorted out by now.

I've left replying a couple of days to see what happened on the WizTV Download pages.

I'd have thought that a good way to cut down the number of people posting about (e) would have been to fix the links to the firmware on the WizTV Downloads page.

They're still broken.

3 Jan and the WizTV downloads are still broken. I'm still to hear back from WizTV support (report sent before 20 Dec).

I've just sent another report of the problem to their Contacts page. I'll see if that fares any better than my last try.

Hi Peter,

I believe that most/all the support staff at Beyonwiz Australia are on leave for another week. Even when they do get back they will, no doubt, be flooded with E-Mail. It may take some time for your messages to be seen and actioned.

Regards,
Ian.

What's the cause of this because I started getting this today.
Internet Connection and Network works fine.

Edit: Checked again and now it's working

Jan 10. The WizTV downloads page is now working. Still no communication from WizTV support to say it's been fixed.
