registration ++

Post by NGcomm » Sun Dec 14, 2008 18:40

1/ Registered using a hotmail account - error response: -Mail server mx2.hotmail.com: 550 OU-001 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Reasons for rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics or IP/domain reputation problems.

Registered using my business account - error response: - Mail server zmail.windows-host.com: 553 Blocked - see http://cbl.abuseat.org/lookup.cgi?ip=121.127.219.10 which informed me that

IP Address 121.127.219.10 is currently listed in the CBL.

It was detected at 2008-12-13 11:00 GMT (+/- 30 minutes), approximately 22 hours ago.

It has been relisted following a previous removal at 2008-12-13 03:16 GMT

If you are known by list as a spam IP maybe you need to do some work on fixing up your server profile.

The result of this is I can't register

2/ Why can't I use the the usergroup profile?

3/ Isn't ACT in Australia? (your state list doesn't include the capital of Australia - good proof reading Smile

4/ and you have a 404 on your email_thankyou page - keeps getting better lol

5/ Guys, nice product but quality of development sucks. Still waiting to play Vob files properly and using the Lidac files in a standard format that doesn't require hours of work to compress them into something I can play on other devices

You need to update to 280 for DVD support.

You can hardly blame DPG for the responses of your mail servers.

Have you had a look at the advice Peter has posted on registering and his offers of help?

WizTV is not part of the forum so needs its own registration but you can use the same user name if you wish and it is available.

EDIT: And please don't cross and multiply post. Once is enough.
Cheers

I did have 280 installed - just on old footer on my post

hmm - intesting comment. Both servers use an international control list. If you are on it I think it's safe to blame DPG and not the servers that use these black lists

I have read the advice from Peter, before I posted without success

Understand

Agreed - was a mistake, feel free to remove one of them

In beta, I suggested twice that the text for the NSW entry should be NSW/ACT. It wasn't taken up.

There is only (I think) one forecast entry for the ACT, so I don't think it really warrants a top-level entry of its own.

I thought I responded to the ACT comments. It boils down to the way the BOM publishes their data feed. Essentially, the BOM lumps ACT into NSW. I'll see what I can do about the cosmetics of the category label, right now everything is driven by the data in the database, which is as provided by the BOM.

I'm talking about the drop downs in your registration process, your internet registration not the BOM listings.

And sorry to say but I do the development for the majority of the aus.gov.au portal - your response about BOM is either misinformed or your contact needs an update in the system.

Regardless of this - I am talking about the crap proof reading on the web site registration process - and the 404 on the thank you page (or non thank you page as the case may be)

The problem with these blacklisting sites is that they never provide enough information about the reasons for the listing. I'd love to fix this, but as far as I can tell, CBL is listing the IP address without a legitimate reason.
4/ and you have a 404 on your email_thankyou page
Can you please be a bit more specific? I'll fix it if I can reproduce it, but it "Works for me."(tm)

Hi sent information about not being able to register plus the other points to http://www.wiztv.com.au/contact.asp and upon submission it returns a 404 for the http://www.wiztv.com.au/email_thanks.asp page.

Then again I got an error when I submitted this post so I guess all things concidered it should be expected?

WizTV registration does not collect any information about your location.

It actually sounds like you are talking about the Contact Form. Unfortunately, I can not fix that site, however I will forward your complaint to the people responsible for that system.
And sorry to say but I do the development for the majority of the aus.gov.au portal - your response about BOM is either misinformed or your contact needs an update in the system.
Great! In that case you can look up the specification for BOM product IDA00001 and then lookup the feed to confirm for yourself that the BOM places Canberra in NSW.

For your info the Canberra temps are taken from the Canberra airport. The radar is is in Captains Flat just outside of ACT in NSW but it provides a 128k radar which surrounds the ACT and coastal NSW areas - it is the BOM feed for ACT

You are correct = the registration does not request state information - your contact form does.

Getting off and staying off the blacklist should now be sorted too. It looks like CBL are blacklisting EHLOs with FQDNs that resolve to MX RRs but not to A RRs. If that was not the reason, then I am stumped as to what their criteria for blacklisting are.
