Changing channel names.

Post by efry » Fri Mar 21, 2008 13:57

Hi Guys,

I've had some success with my channel name changer application.

I'll clean it up and make a release soon. In the mean time here's a picture of my wiz with the channel names changed.

Regards,
Eric

I've checked Eric's code into:

http://svn.openwiz.org/svnroot/wizremote/trunk/svctool/

Should it live in wizremote, or should we create a new svctool repository and trac?

is there a chance we can get an ordering system for the channel numbers ie, 2 for channel 2HD then 21 for ABC2 then 22 for ABC3 and so on?

You can put the channels in a Favorites list in any order you want to. The All Services list I get has too much rubbish in it anyway (Prime View 1, 2, 3, ABC 3, and so on).

The Favorites list will also be used for EPG display.

The logical channel numbers (LCN) are assigned by the broadcasters and embedded into the signal. Theoretically these can be changed by the receiver or user, but in practice this is not something that is recommended.

On the other hand, you can select an arbitrary order for the individual LCNs in your favourite groups. You can do that with the blue button in Setup/Misc/Favourite section.

This is available now. Channel renaming and channel sequencing are standard features of current firmware. You need to use a favourites group the define the list and then you can define the order of the channels in that list. (Have a read of the newest manuals - available online.)

Warning: The channel positioning commands are a little broken in the 01.05.301 firmware release. Moving a channel more than 1 slot will corrupt the list. This should be fixed for the next firmware (and was not an issue in the previous firmware).

Regards,
Ian.
