Problem with AP-U1 remote for DP series PVRs.

I had purchased a AP-U1 remote control some time ago as a spare and tried to use it today.
Set it for SAT and it would not control either the DP-P1, DP-P2 or DP-P2.
I ended up resetting the SAT function and even after setting it's code to 2999, the remote does not beep when buttons are pushed and they DO beep in the TV , DVD, CD, VCR settings.
Looking and hoping for, how to make it control at least one of the above machines, please and any clues how to restore the RCU would be most helpful,
