Test for forum quoting problems.

I don’t know Tony. I just copied & pasted your quote below without any changes & it works fine for me.

IanSav reported problems with quoting a few days ago but it seems only some users are having problems - something has obviously changed on the forum. Just in case I have something set different that allows quoting to still work on my setup here are some of my forum profile settings:

I’m using WinXP Home SP3 with IE8.

Under my profile I have the following settings:
Always notify me of replies: NO
Notify on new Private Message: YES
Pop up window on new Private Message: YES
Always attach my signature: YES
Always allow BBCode: YES
Always allow HTML: NO
Always enable Smilies: YES
Board Language: English
Board Style: skyLineBlue
Timezone: GMT + 11 hrs
Date format: D M d, Y g:i a

The only difference is the always enable html one..

The test above was done with ‘Always allow HTML’ set to ‘YES’.
With ‘Always allow HTML’ set to ‘NO’ (as per my opening post) quoting works fine.

Edit: Clarified above test.

I have HTML, BBCode and Smilies all ON and I am still having problems. When I disable HTML it appears to work. Off to the profile editor I go...

I wonder what was changed such that this broke?

Profile changed and quoting now works by default. Thanks for the heads-up.

(I wonder if the forum default for HTML was changed and those of us who had it enabled in our profiles encountered the error?) Also, why does an unattributed quote still work with HTML ON. I think something screwy is going on.

I am still concerned that the forum software is generating JavaScript errors.

Correct. I used the wrong test description in my 2nd post - it is now corrected. I think I may have given Ian a bum steer at first with the original description.

But changing it in the profile means that it is disabled by default so it is worth noting.
