You can generate the url tags around text by selecting the text and clicking on the "hyperlink" button ("links of chain" icon) in the text formatting bar at the top of the text entry box in the post composition page.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't get it to work. Maybe I'm not holding my mouth right.

This isn't the easiest forum software I've used. Other forums allow you to highlight the word or words, then when you click the "link" button a window opens where you can paste the URL.

Never mind, I'll battle on.
