P2 version of the LiDiC
P2 version of the LiDiC
Does any one know if the LiDiC within the BW P2 produces files in the correct aspect ratio compared to the combo of LIDiC plus P1 or S1? Maybe getting a photograph off the TV screen with a test pattern to show the linearity? Once transferred to PC or MAC there is no problem so in effect a TV screen dump is required via a good quality digital camera.

I read this post ages ago and didn't get the implications until I started doing a bit more with it. The files look OK when played on the P2 but when transferred using wizfx, the aspect ratio is 5/4 instead of 4/3. Mediainfo reports this as 5/4 and all the players I have tried make it look that way too.

Good to hear it's been fixed on the P2! Using the LiDiC in conjunction with the S1 or P1 the situation is reversed ie it plays back on the BW as 5:4 and is ok with most players on a PC.grl wrote:I read this post ages ago and didn't get the implications until I started doing a bit more with it. All you have to do is correct the aspect ratio in the PC players easily done in VLC or MPC etc. Using TMPCGenc Express all you have to do is change the PAR from square tr 16:9 it will then convert the file to a conventional MPEG2 file for making a DVD. Quite likely VSO ConvertXtoDVD will do it on the fly with this file.

Yes the file format is identicalRecusant wrote:Is the DP-P2 essentially the same as the LIDIC? I'd have to use the same software if i had either machine? (something that can modify MPEG4 stuff).

only way to get IQ2 to s-video on the lidic is to put a composite/s-video adaptor on the composite cable coming from the IQ2. Would that adaptor alone make such a difference?
Tried looking at the IQ2 setup but in the 'picture settings' section number 1 'video output settings' is faded and can't be chosen.

Appears you have the infamous 851 box, no Scart, no S-Video. Even an expensive Composite to S-Video converter with an elaborate comb filter won't help, the 851 has a crap low pass/high pass composite encoder. You may get more joy from a Component to S-Video encoder, but the good ones are pricey. It will probably be cheaper to get a proper Component capture device for your PC.wook wrote:only way to get IQ2 to s-video on the lidic is to put a composite/s-video adaptor on the composite cable coming from the IQ2. An other solution might be to try to get Foxtel to swap you an 850 box with Scart and S-Video outputs. Other .au forums like overclockers and whirlpool have copious discussion on how "work the system" to get the desired result.
Yep that's an 851.Tried looking at the IQ2 setup but in the 'picture settings' section number 1 'video output settings' is faded and can't be chosen.
looks like getting the lidic box was a waste of money. Component seems to be the best way of getting something decent out of the IQ2, and even then I have read the 850 could get HD out of the component while the 851 only does SD. I might get a panasonic dmr xw390 dvd recorder solely for foxtel and keep the beyonwiz for regular tv. Why does foxtel make life hard for it's customers? some competition would help.
