S-Video

Post by armiller45 » Thu Feb 21, 2008 07:58

Does the S-Video connection to the LiDiC operate in pass-through mode?

At the moment I'm viewing Austar through the LiDiC and would also like to have a direct connection from Austar to the LCD. Rather than use a switch/splitter on the Austar box I'm hoping the LiDiC is a pass-through system so I can use the S-Video out connection.

Can anyone advise where an S-Video splitter can be obtained from? I can find an S-Video switch locally (price about $80).

I've also been told that it doesn't need to be amplified over a short distance (eg 3 m). Does that fit with the experience of others on this forum?

Hi Armiller45,

I believe that the S-Video input will also operate in pass-through mode. I haven't tested this personally though.

Jacar and Dick Smith Electronics are probably the best places to look for S-Video splitters.

I would always keep all audio and video leads as short as possible to minimise losses and the chances of the cables picking up stray interference. 3 Metres is not too bad if you need that sort of length.

Regards,
Ian.
