Download Hex codes doc for the DP-x1 models: (for DP-P2 see list below)
http://www.beyonwiz.com/support/others/ ... A_Code.pdf
And in text format - you need the diagram from the PDF file to match the # to the button.

Apparently these are NEC1 codes. Thanks to Peter D for explaining how to convert them into Pronto codes.
I could not find anywhere how to convert these codes to Pronto hex format. The codes are indeeed NEC1 format and to convert just put
900A 006D 0000 0001 BE00 in fron\t of the last four characters of the hex codes published here.
For example Standby is
900A 006D 0000 0001 BE00 0AF5
NOTE: For DP-P2 use 900A 006D 0000 0001 BE01 plus the last 4 characters.

I assume this is an NEC protocol with 0xBE as the device code perhaps?

Dave, should this be a sticky? Then I could link to the FAQ (oh, and also the other remote codes thread...) The other way would be to have an info area on PVR Tools for detailed technical info with a link to the FAQ, but then you'd be hosting a whole lot of stuff.......
Cheers,

Brian
No point in linking to all the posts, and not even sure this needs to be a sticky, though that's not a problem.
Might just be easiest to link to the forum topic "Remote Control".

Nope, this does not look like NEC protocol.
Perhaps it's RC5 or RC6 - I haven't really looked into it.

Hi all,
I just bought a Beyonwiz Dp-p1 this today
(I'm sure I'll be even happier with it once I actually figure out how to do everything
). It seems to be a really nice unit!
I have a Bose Lifestyle which allows me to use its remote as a Universal Remote. Just like using the Beyonwiz remote as a Universal Remote, you need to give it a code (same type of code).
The problem, is that you first need to specify the brand, then you can choose which code in the smaller list you will use. This list is very long (hundreds of brands) and Beyonwiz is not in it.
What code am I looking for? Is it '190' (which is 0xBE in decimal)? Or am I totally on the wrong track
Also, are there any other brands that would have the same code? This would make it a lot easier to find it.
Many thanks!

I always thought those device codes that various remote manufacturers provided was an arbitrary number that matched a table they provided, i.e. not related to anything specific to the protocol.. but i could be wrong. Do you have a scan mode, most universal remotes will do a scan to send the power key event, and you may be able to find it that way. But how fancy is the Lifestyle remote? I couldn't imagine it would support all that much with the wiz (like the filelist key, setup key etc).
Regards

Oh noes, I hope you're wrong with the whole number in a table thing - but it doesn't sound so far fetched. There is no scan mode that I'm aware of.
The output from the BW goes into the bose, which then selects which to output. Even if I can just get channel changing & power working so simple STB functions can be handled by the bose remote, that would be terrific. It can turn on the TV, and change channels on the old STB (eww wintel
), so it would be nice to be able to do that with the beyonwiz.

Both Yellow and Info have the same hex code - 0DF2. Does anyone know the correct codes?

According to my PDF it's green and info that (incorrectly) are listed as having the same hex code. I'll see if I can find out. In the meantime you could try all posible codes. There are 256 possible codes, and 51 are listed so that only leaves 205 to try! Who knows, you may discover some discrete codes.

Be careful if you decide to test all codes - it could lead to unhappiness. At least on the Topfield TF5000PVRt there was one code to unconditionally format the HDD and another code to clear out all settings. Who knows, the Beyonwiz may have some destructive codes too.

Discrete Power OFF and all the Pronto codes added to the first post.
I still have to find out the correct codes for Info and Green (they can't both be the same code).

Hmmm....discrete off in the new firmware....so is there going to be a setting so the current "on/off" code won't turn the B/W off (thus changing the old "on/off" into a "discrete on" code)?

The Wishlist on Firmware 261 states that discrete OFF hex code has been added.
Previous forum members have advised that the code format is
# Command Hex Code
-------------------------------
42 POWER OFF 0xBE0056A9
Is this the new Power OFF HEX code under f/w 261?
What does the "x" in 0xBE0056A9 mean for a DP-P1 PVR?
Does anyone know how to program the correct Power OFF discrete HEX code into a URC MX850 universal remote control?

0x means "hex". There is a post here or on
http://www.openwiz.org about how to deal with using this hex code for a pronto setup, so you can go to
http://www.remotecentral.com and see what converstion options there are for pronto codes to make them work for other remote species.

Thanks for the reply tonymy01.
Do you by any chance have a Pronto CCF file for the Beyonwiz BR-01 remote.
I would need this file to load it into my URC MX850 remote.

Great work Dave! So we can see for the P2 the button codes are the same but the device code changes (well, for the first couple I looked at anyway). At least I believe that is the device code (well, part of it).

Yep, just replace the BE00 with BE01. So if anyone discovers an unknown discrete code for one model we can change it to suit the other model. Or if someone has macros and button assignments setup on a PC programmable universal remote they can easily adapt their existing S1, P1 or H1 device file to suit a P2.

I don't suppose you were able to get hold of a Pronto CCF file with those codes in it?
Just didn't feel energetic enough to manually enter them if a .ccf already existed.

I did expend the energy for my Pronto RU990 (to deal with my BR-01 remote for the DP-P1) and can send you a PCF of the codes if that would work. PM me with your email address.

Thanks for the offer, but I've already got it in pcf format, and I was after the ccf version to import it in to my new URC MX6000, rather than doing it one by one manually.

Does anyone know if the DP-P2 remote (BR-02) can be set to send code sets other than codeset 0 (non-DP-P2) and codeset 1 (DP-P2) by pressing buttons 3-8 rather than 1 or 2 when switching codesets?
I'm currently working on a BWFWTools/bw_patcher module to hack Beyonwizes to accept non-standard codesets, and it would be quite useful for people with more than 2 Beyonwizes in the one room to be able to use more than two code sets.
The hack works nicely (thanks to peteru for pointing out the wizdvp option that controls the codeset), I've been running my DP-H1 with DP-P2 codes for some time now, but the new bw_patcher module will automate the process and make it a bit more accessible.
The codeset is encoded in the 5th most significant digit in the hexcode (OK - codeset 0: 0xBE001FE0; codeset 1: 0xBE011FE0; codeset 5: 0xBE051FE0; codeset c: 0xBE0c1FE0). Codesets 0..7 are allowed.

Nice innovation Peter.
So I take it you can now use your Canberra Times as a TV guide rather than an IR blocker

It's not quite perfect. The code for power on can't be changed in the firmware, so it's still manual power on for the Beyonwizes.
There's another, more subtle, problem. I have my Harmony set up to power the BWs down when they're not in use. This means that If I'm watching the Lite, and it's also recording something, then switch to the H1 while the Lite is still recording, it tries to power the Lite down, and does the "power down later" trick. If I then stop watching the H1 before the Lite recording is finished, and switch back to the Lite, the Lite will power down when the recording stops. I can't think of a good workaround for this one.

Hi Peter,
You can always take my approach and leave all the Beyonwiz units permanently on.
This takes the power on/off codes out of the game.

Ian.

Hi, Ian. I prefer to shut them down. It's a pity that there doesn't seem to be a way to cancel "shutdown later".

Maybe not quite universal, but
Power, Right, Right, Ok will cancel the shutdown later if there is a recording in progress. Unfortunatly it will power off immediately if one is not in progress.

Hi Peter,
Have you tried using your Beyonwiz BR-02 version remote control on any of the other code sets you have patched into the Beyonwiz? (Press OK and the code set number until the STB LED flashes 3 times.)
If this works then Beyonwiz owners can also use multiple Beyonwiz units with multiple Beyonwiz remote controls to have independent control of multiple units in a single location. They could also use a single remote and just keep switching its personality. (This may not be a good thing for the remote control and does take a few seconds to achieve the changeover.)
Regards,
Ian.

I don't have a BR-02 remote, that's why I asked the Wisdom of the Forum. Otherwise I would have tried it myself. I'm using a Harmony remote with using a DP-P2 Harmony setup to control the codeset-hacked H1.

Yes, indeed. That's the reason behind of my question, and mentioned (though in less detail) in my OP.
... it would be quite useful for people with more than 2 Beyonwizes in the one room to be able to use more than two code sets.
I want to find out if it's possible so that I can add it to the documentation for the Beyonwiz::Hack::Codeset module for bw_patcher.

I thought I'd tried that, unsuccessfully. I'll give it a go again.
It's not a viable option for the power-up sequence, though, because as you say it would kill any recording on the BW being switched to. It would also power up the BW that had just been shut down (in my configuration).
In any case, I'm much happier with it this way than with the Canberra-Times-TV-Guide-code-switch

Doesn't your DP-Lite have a BR-02?

Ian.

No. Only the DP-P2 has the BR-02.

I've managed to get hold of a BR-02 remote, and yes, indeed, the BR-02 can be set to use any of the codesets 0..7 by pressing and holding down buttons
1..
8 while holding down
OK (until the STB led flashes three times). I've confirmed this for codesets 0, 1, 2 and 7 on my correspondingly codeset-hacked DP-H1.
On non-DP-P2s, the BR-02 eject/AV Bypass button sends the EJECT code (or, rather, the EJECT code and the AVBYPASS codes are the same code, apart from the codeset number).
The new version of BWFWTools with the bw_patcher module that allows you to change a Beyonwiz's firmware codeset should be released this weekend.
