EPG anomally

Post by AlanH » Sat Sep 19, 2020 17:12

Hi,
when searching the EPG I occasionally find a program coloured in red (as thought it was a timer.
I haven't set a timer for the program and it is not actually a timer. it asks me to add a timer.
How can I get rid of the program and prevent this happening please?
Regards
AlanNH

Do you have a screenshot that shows this?

I can't see why an EPG event would be shaded red if there was no matching timer. As far as I know, the EPG cell shading is based on the event being completely covered by a the times set in a timer.

+1. Never seen red without a timer.

A screenshot of Menu >>Timers should also be provided please.

My guess is a timer was generated from an AutoTimer definition, and now the broadcaster has replaced the original program with a different program
- leaving an "orphaned" timer that does cover the new event (but has the name of the original event).
But I'm not gonna bet my lefty on it

Just as well for you

Autotimers generate normal timers, which are less likely to show quirky behaviour. On the other hand, repeating timers have a number of issues that can lead to this. I'm pretty sure that prl could give you the gory details he discovered when he took a look.

Press TIMER to bring up the timer list. Identify the timer occupying those time spots. Delete the timer.

The most common repeat timer oddity is that the repeat timer shows in the EPG for its first recording, and then doesn't show after that, because its event id doesn't get updated after it has run the first time (and that's a bit complicated to fix). It's just about the opposite of the OP's problem ;)

Thanks for the clarification. So this is a new one to investigate?

It may be, but it's hard to say what it might be with the information given. The contents of the autotimer.xml and timers.xml entries for the timer might be a starting point.
