Audio Video Dropout T2
Audio Video Dropout T2
My issue is with one of my two T2 PVRs.
Suddenly the video, and audio, has started to drop out. In both file playback, and live TV, the screen goes black, and audio drops out.. The dropout is sudden, frequent, and random. The periods are also of different periods but not long periods. Sometimes split seconds, but never for long. It is disruptive enough to render watching impossible. I have tried a full shutdown, startup, and rescan, all to no avail. It would appear there are no software updates pending.
I am sorry if this has already been posted but I can’t find it.
Sincerely
Chris Phillips.

Re: Audio Video Dropout T2
Have you tried component output as a test to see if the same thing happens?
Have you tried a different HDMI cable (even swapping HDMI cables with the other T2).
Have you tried different output resolutions and refresh rates (MENU>>Setup>>AV setup>>AV settings).
What firmware version are you running? From live TV, MENU>>Information>>About. What does it show in 'Revision' or 'Last Upgrade' field (field is firmware dependent).
It could be a hardware issue with the HDMI port.

Thanks for the prompt response, and suggestions, I’ll work my way through them, but it was so sudden, with nothing disturbed, I was beginning to suspect a dry circuit board joint, as the unit had been accidentally left on for quite awhile, whilst we were away.
Cheers

Re: Audio Video Dropout T2
It does sound like a HDMI dropout.
If the problem goes away when you drop the resolution, then it is almost certainly a dodgy cable.

Re: Audio Video Dropout T2
I agree - with the dongle every few days I get a similar effect on HDMI in. It is very obvious that it's a loss of the HDMI signal triggering black pulsating screens and audio loss. In my case, just switching to FTA and back is enough to restore a steady picture most times. Otherwise, a reboot of the dongle and/or the U4.

Re: Audio Video Dropout T2
Thank you for all the suggestions, I’ve yet to work through them, as it’s Grandchildren time, at the moment.
I certainly appreciate the rapid responses.
Cheers

Re: Audio Video Dropout T2
Hi Guys.
Just as a quick check I pulled out the HDMI cable from the back of the T2, and replugged it.
It now seems to have fixed the problem. I’ll keep an eye on it. If it happens again I’ll go through the list.
Fingers crossed.
Cheers, and thanks again.

Re: Audio Video Dropout T2
A dodgy connection is a very likely cause of the problem - and an easy fix!
