iView plugin desired for T4

Post by Robert_M » Sun Mar 15, 2020 15:30

Hello,
I would like to know what is needed, if possible to, get ABC's iView as a plugin for my T4.
For that matter, SBS OnDemand and 7plus would also be great :)
Thank you, Robert_M

On models that support it (I can't recall which ones, but the T4 does), the ability to access ABC iView and SBS OnDemand is built in. No plugin is necessary. On models that don't support it, no plugin is available.

However, while I think the iView program access is pretty complete this way, HbbTV (marketed as FreeView Plus in Australia) SBS OnDemand only offers a very limited subset of the full SBS OnDemand offering. There's nothing that can be done about that with the HbbTV interface.

The commercial channels' HbbTV/Freeview FV services are protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM) encryption and can't be accessed on any Beyonwiz models. The commercial channel HbbTV services are also frequently not available at all on the regional partners (Prime, WIN, etc).

To access iView: while watching any ABC channel live, BLUE>HbbTV Applications>IVIEW.
To access (limited) OnDemand: while watching any SBS channel live, BLUE>HbbTV Applications>MainNetworkApp.

Alternatives are streaming devices like the WizTV dongle or using the catchup and streaming capabilities on a smart TV. They will also often allow access to subscription services like Netflix & Stan (and all the rest).

Avoid the WizTV dongle.

I uninstalled the previous version of iView and it won't allow me to update to the current version. Can't revert either.

Thank you for your comments, will try the blue buttons.
I can also see all I want on Apple TV, but was trying to keep systems simple for other members of the household :)

Unfortunately, IMO there's little point trying to use catchup TV on the Beyonwizes that support it. Even on iView, where the content is all there and it seems to work play well, the interface is really clunky to use.
