EPG on H1

Post by BP3 » Fri Jan 11, 2008 20:31

When I first set up my H1 it loaded the Ice TV EPG. However, in the last week it remains totally blank, but checks ok. Both my P1 & H1 are connected via ethernet and router. The H1 does not seem to have an option to clear or reset the EPG cache like to P1. Could there be some conflict between my H1 and P1. The P1 loads the EPG OK.

As the H1 has no hard drive there is no cache so it always loads afresh from when it comes out of standby.

Are you using the latest firmware?
Cheers

Do you have separate devices set up in IceTV Remote for your P1 and H1? Are there any error messages in the IceTV status on the H1. Is the H1 network status OK?

No error in IceTV status - but the device field is empty and can't enter anything. Not sure what you mean re "set up in IceTV Remote".

On the ICETV website, you need to setup a device.

In the IceTV Remote Options configuration you need to set up two devices with different names, one for the P1 and one for the H1. The Recorder: dropdown list doesn't have a Beyonwiz H1, but Beyonwiz S1 works (P1 Beyonwiz probably works, too).

Then set the Select Device entry on the P1 and H1 each to a different one of the two names you've configured.

If it's not set up with two different names, the IceTV update protocol may not work properly.

Can a USB key or an network drive be used to cache the data?

If not, is it an option that should be added to the H1.

There's no option to save the EPG program data. The EPG channel mapping data is saved (to flash, I guess). The channel mapping data associates the LCN (service number) of a broadcast service with IceTV's internal key identifying a program guide, which may be broadcast on several locations on different LCNs. This data changes very infrequently.

I'd prefer it to save the EPG data to flash at shutdown, provided that doesn't significantly impact the lifetime of the flash. We only power our BWs up from standby when they're in use, so having to make sure that there's a USB key connected, or the Mac is powered up, at startup and shutdown, just to use the EPG cache would be a bit of a pain. For users who normally have a HDD connected to the H1, saving to HDD as a configurable option would be useful.
