front panel lights - T4
I use the T4 in my bedroom and my wife complains that the led panel lights keep her awake.
I know I can dim them but even at the lowest setting they are still quite bright in a dark room.
I usually leave the T4 in standby mode when I have finished using it because if I power it down completely,
there is another blue light on the front that comes on which is even brighter than the panel leds.
Is it possible to have a setting for the panel lights that switch them off completely when the unit goes into standby ?
If not I think this would be a good feature for those who want one for the bedroom.

A big "me too" for the LED. I have my T4 in the bedroom also and the blue deep standby LED shines like a lighthouse in the dark.
Is the brightness of the LED alterable via software? Otherwise I'm thinking of putting tape over it until the warranty runs out, then either swapping the LED over to something dimmer or increasing the value of the series resistor.

Try painting the blue LED with a red lacquer, like nail polish.

In olden days I used a little disc cut from photographic film to reduce the brightness of clocks and lights

What's that?simoncasey wrote:... photographic film ...
My favourite (mis)use of photographic film was to make a Fresnel zone plate for a second-year optics prac.

Actually, that could be a good solution to the IR receiver issues.prl wrote:My favourite (mis)use of photographic film was to make a Fresnel zone plate for a second-year optics prac.

The P2 also had a very bright blue LED which was like a beacon in the dark - appropriately coloured transparent contact was good for knocking the level down to something bearable, I found the orange-red tint did the trick nicely for the blue light, but given the T4's display is a different hue, you might need to experiment....
