Playing small clips bug

Post by SJ2571 » Mon Sep 01, 2008 21:49

For as long as I've had my BW (6 months?), and through several firmwares, I've NEVER been able to play small clips that I've copied out of a longer recording. Example: record a show, copy A->B (about 10 seconds) to a new file, then try to play the new file. Error loading media file. Will this ever be resolved?

I think there has always been a declared minimum size for recordings and I haven't seen any indication that it would change.

Perhaps the BW shouldn't let you create the files if they are too short to be played back. Could be seen as a bug.

Even though the clip is too small to play on the Beyonwiz, have you tried copying it off to your computer? I suspect the file may work there. The detection code used by computers is different to that used by the Beyonwiz and will probably work.

Regards,
Ian.

Yes it does, but that's beside the point. The BW should work as a standalone unit.
I should be able to view such files on the BW without resorting to third-party equipment
located elsewhere in the house. :)
