Sounds like your PC is just not setup right. I've got a network of Linux machines and the DP-S1 sees everything that's shared without any issues. It scans very quickly and my network has a mix of DHCP and static addresses.

You need an account with IceTV in order to get the EPG on the Beyonwiz (it needs your login details to connect to the pimp_server), so a free anonymous version is not going to work.

I would advise against any NAS box that has a limit on the number of connections. This one has a limit of 8 concurrent connections, which is way too low.

Consider something like the Linksys NSLU2 as the NAS server (it's about the size of a pack of cards) and just plug USB disks into it as required.
