I'd like to see Matroska (.mkv adn .mka) file support.

It's an excellent container format - see http://www.matroska.org/ and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison ... er_formats to get an idea of why it's better than most others and easier to implement as well.

I asked the question and got an answer from Beyonwiz directly. I am not certain when it will appear or if they will encounter problems, but I am certain that it is on the Beyonwiz roadmap. I do not know to what degree this will work - it may be that you get a combination of HiDef on HDMI and PAL on ...

Not sure if the Snazio uses the same Sil chip for output, but there are at least two versions of the one that is used in the DP-S1. One version has a clock rate of 25-112MHz (1080i) and the other version can do 25-150MHz (1080p). It may be possible to overclock the slower version to still get 1080p,...

Of course there are ways around it for those who have the skills and resources, but it would not help the majority of people out there. Sounds like your PC is just not setup right. I've got a network of Linux machines and the DP-S1 sees everything that's shared without any issues. It scans very quickly and my network has a mix of DHCP and static addresses.

I should point out that this means that the DP-S1 is limited to 1080i, since it does not use the 1080p Sil part.

I have a Topfield and an XBOX running XBMC. Me too. Can the BW connect to multiple shares across the network. Yes. You need an account with IceTV in order to get the EPG on the Beyonwiz (it needs your login details to connect to the pimp_server), so a free anonymous version is not going to work.

I would advise against any NAS box that has a limit on the number of connections. This one has a limit of 8 concurrent connections, which is way too low.

Consider something like the Linksys NSLU2 as the NAS server (it's about the size of a pack of cards) and just plug USB disks into it as required.

The other thing to keep in mind is the user interface for such a device.

A much easier alternative is to combine a DP-S1 (or DP-P1) as the central server in the main zone and add a networked DP-H1 as the playback device in Zone 2.

The digital tuners work as computer network cards. They just receive data packets from the antenna. The chipset in the PVR then does the decoding of the data packets to generate the video and audio. The chipset also has the equivalent of a graphics card and a sound card. These are used to output the...

No problems with 802.11g streaming either. It works fine for almost everything. Some high bitrate content (such as 1080i) can cause issues, but in general I am happy. You don't even need to use the second tuner for an overlapping recording. All the required data is already delivered by the first tuner.
