Hi Peter, WPA security usually goes with TKIP encryption. WPA2 security usually goes with AES encryption. The passphrase is not a password it is a base or starting point for the encryption engine. Make sure that the string you use is not too long or too short and is entered *identically* on both de...

I'm also having problems getting my S1 to connect to the WLAN using WPA (FW 0.1.03.84). I have a Belkin ADSL WLAN router, its security settings are: Allowed client type: WPA/WPA2 Preshared key type: Passphrase Preshared key: my.password (no, it's not that) And on the S1: Authetication type: WPAPSK E...

... It's starting to look like a fair proportion of us are over 40. :D About 45% of the population is over 40, so maybe that's not such a surprise. True but up until the last time I looked, the over 40s were over 50% here so for a long while it was looking as if we were over represented in the BW s...

Hi Peter, There are two levels of downmixing on offer. One is to downmix the Dolby Digial 5.1 - AC3 signal to stereo or Dolby Pro-Logic. The other is to take the Dolby Digital 5.1 - AC3 signal and downmix it to 5.1 analogue channels. It is the value of the later that I am questioning. Regards, Ian....

Hi Peter, But do you want the DD signal downmixed to the 6 analogue outputs at the back? Do you want it downmixed to 5.1 at any time? Regards, Ian. Hmmm. It looks like I'm not understanding something. I thought that the downmixing referred to the ability to mix 5.1 broadcast audio down to just ster...

... if I leave it on ten and the signal is bad (varies day to day) then it can crash the Unit before it finishes booting and I can change the channel. The BW definately needs improved handling of poor signals, channel 10 is able to crash my unit very consistently when it has a borderline signal. It...

For a bit more information about the chipset - Product brochure. The EM8623L is the same as the EM8622L but without Macrovision (see the bottom line of the product table).

Yes. Not too much user time but computer time to change mpeg to VOB. But I usually just walk away and come to find it all finished the next morning.
