Sorry for resurrecting this thread after over a month. Been away and a few other things. Good news is I have sorted out my HD recordings. I've ended up using VidCoder and setting the target size at 700MB/hr (I have to calculate this manually from the length of the recording, then input). Good result...

nope.. not locked. just checked. I've never locked a file before, and couldn't lock it then (needs PIN and i couldn't put in an acceptable one of 4 digits).

I think i have upgraded the FW since the file was recorded (its several months old)... would that make a difference?

Yes, I agree with the cutting of adds with the BW being a bit hit and miss. will investigate ProjectX based on the recommendation.
What sort of compression and other settings to you use in AutoGK?

By the way, did you enable DCM (Dynamic Channel Management) in the SETUP menus? I don't think I've done this. I haven't altered any settings after upgrading the FW to 301.
