Unfortunately, it seems neither of these remotes are available anymore. I emailed Beyonwiz to see if they might have one lying around but haven't yet received a reply.

WooHoo....All Fixed!!............... Warkus is a magician! Seems my PSU was pretty much fried, problems on both sides of the board. Not only the 0000 Error code but no power to the HDD. Sent it over to WA from Newcastle NSW for Mark to check it over.....fixed! From broken to new in less than a week...

I still use my S1 as a PVR and basic media player but have supplemented it with a jailbroken Apple TV 2. The aTV 2 is a fantastic bit of gear for media playback and internet streaming when jailbroken and running XMBC.

Yep, I'm still using my Toppy regularly too. In fact, I have to say that it gets more recording use than my BW S1.....though I use the S1 almost daily for media playback and HD viewing.

I'm not a huge fan of the BW remote. I much prefer the classic Toppy 5000 remote as I don't even have to look at the buttons when using it due to its ergonomic and logical design. But I certainly wouldn't call the BW remote "daunting"!

You didn't have the problem before updating the firmware? My situation occurred sometime ago but I do remember that it happened around the same time as a firmware upgrade. I'm not saying that the firmware upgrade was definitely a factor but who knows, the upgrade combined with funny HDMI connectors...

I used to have problems where the HDMI would just drop out and I'd have to stuff around with rebooting, playing around with cables etc. I fixed it completely by reversing the cable. For some reason, certain devices are really finicky about HDMI connectors.

You've probably already checked this but have you double-checked that the gateway IP is correct? I've had a couple of occasions where this has reset itself for some unknown reason to 192.168.0.1 and I hadn't noticed that the 3rd group was 0 and not the usual default of 1 i.e. 192.168.1.1
