Re: Which HDD recommendations for V2

Light use wireless just calls for Wireless-N/802.11n/Wi-Fi 4 speeds. Generally the max sync between the wireless client and the wireless router/access point will be 72Mbps. This is plenty fast enough for IceTV updates, and viewing/streaming of live TV or recordings when you get to that stage. OpenW...

Re: Which HDD recommendations for V2

Hi Peter, Thanks for the heads up on the BBCode issue, although that's what I thought I was doing. I shall have to try again. :D Yes, technology has taken a massive leap forward compared to my S1, and I'm still coming to terms with it all. Unfortunately for me, it seems the older I get the less tech...

Re: Which HDD recommendations for V2

Sorry Geoff, my transition from nights back to days.................... Can I ask what you mainly want the network connection for? Low bandwidth usage stuff - for IceTV, a bit of streaming, OpenWebif - that sort of thing? Or mainly for heavy-duty copying of recordings from the V2 and transferring v...

Re: Which HDD recommendations for V2

That's ok, it is a bit of a rabbit warren, and if I am honest I was avoiding a comprehensive search of my own ;). Grumpy Geoff has made a good post here . Take note of his advice there too about using a separate access point. You will be almost guaranteed of a more reliable result by using a separa...

Re: Which HDD recommendations for V2

The choice of WiFi dongles is a little wider in terms of basic "it works" functionality. Some prove to be more reliable than others in long term operation. But similar to the tuners, as long as the chipset is supported by a driver, then there is a good chance it will work. Being a PIA, bu...

Re: Which HDD recommendations for V2

Okay, So if I have my dual tuner sorted, my next question is the wifi dongle? Again are there other choices available to use, or is their dongle matched to the V2? While I'm on a roll, alternatives to the USB hub on offer? And finally back to the HDD question (I'm confused). In another thread, I was...

Re: Which HDD recommendations for V2

If there is a single tuner available (Bluey) is there also a dual tuner that is compatible with the V2? The only one that you can buy new is the same model that is in the Beyonwiz store. The Hauppage USB dual dvb-t tuner. You can find this for sale elsewhere, but the price is usually about the same...

Re: Which HDD recommendations for V2

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your replies, and apologies for my absence as I started night shift yesterday and sort of lost a day.

If there is a single tuner available (Bluey) is there also a dual tuner that is compatible with the V2?

Cheers,
John

Re: Which HDD recommendations for V2

That and the limited number of USB slots combined with the lack of the internal HDD. Unless you also add a USB hub, pick any two: HDD, USB Tuner, USB WiFi dongle, for example. Hi Peter, Yes, you raise another couple of points that the V2 is lacking but compared to what I'm currently using I think I...

Re: Which HDD recommendations for V2

There are a few other types of single tuner USB dongles that will work, but you are best sticking with the one we call "Bluey". There are a few posts linking to EBay listings for compatible units. Thanks, MrQuade for your answers, I can see I will have to use the search function a bit mor...

Which HDD recommendations for V2

Hi, Currently still running my DP-S1 but have been contemplating a new V2 just it will be on a budget, unfortunately. What 2 TB HDD would people recommend purchasing separately? Also with the old S1, I sometimes have timer clashes trying to record 3 programs at once. If it's an ABC or SBS show I can...

Re: Transfer P1 remote to P2

May explore breaking into the BR-02 to see if I can clean the contacts. I'm still using the BR-01 and every couple of years my buttons start to stick or not make contact properly and I just separate the back off it and clean all the contacts with a cotton bud and Isopropyl alcohol and it's good to ...

One workaround to the problem of recording consecutive shows on the same channel is to combine it all into a single timer. You can then edit out the shows into separate recordings, or use bookmarks to mark the starts of the programs, or just watch them in order and use resume play to go back to whe...

... The reason I have to keep updating my IP address on the Wiz is because I keep turning off the router at the power point I'm guessing which then needs reapplying on the Wiz maybe? I just wasn't real sure if I had set it up incorrectly. Regards John Many routers allow you to set up their DHCP ser...

Re: PC on 24/7

Well, you've done nothing wrong, and your PC set up is not to blame. The timer was set as requested, and the BW recorded that timer. The fact that it wasn't Canal Road is either the fault of Ch 9 for a time over run or incorrect scheduling, or ICEtv for an incorrect listing. Not much you can do abo...

No. The padding priority set to none means that the padding will never override an actual timer you have set. The padding will be applied, in full, if there are no conflicting timers. If another timer is due to start within the padding time then the padding will be aborted so that the real timer wi...

Is your router connected to ADSL or cable? It seems very strange that you would think your router shuts down when you shut your PC down? Or is your PC connected with dial-up and you are using internet connection sharing with the LAN port going to a router? Is it a router or a switch? You shouldn't ...

Huh? Unless your beyonwiz is connected to the internet ONLY through your PC, then the Wiz will directly get timers from the internet, your PC isn't involved in that decision at all. The only thing you use your PC for is to surf the EPG on the ICE website or to use the Yahoo Desktop WIdget and from ...

When you say it showed up in your recorder list, do you mean the timer list on the beyonwiz, or the list on the Ice widget? Can you give more info on your network setup? Hi ozdoc, Yes it showed up in my timer list on the beyonwiz from the icetv interactive which I had set for series link and actual...

PC on 24/7

Hi, Have just started my three month trial of Ice tv on my DP-S1 and have discovered that the EPG is only current while the PC is running. If this is true or I'm not doing something totally wrong, how do others get on, surely you don't leave your PC's running 24/7? As an example I have been desperat...

I need help lots and lots of it?

Hi people, First time post here, thought it only fair to give the guys a rest from me over at DTV. Having just purchased and setup a DP-S1 I would now like to network it wirelessly so as I can get Ice TV EPG. I have a Billion 7402GL(wireless) router connected to my PC via Cat5 cable. Upon entering t...
