After the Wiz - and WD TV Live
It is with considerable regret that I am looking at life after Beyonwiz. As time passes, my poor old S1 is having increasing trouble decoding media files, and I'm getting tired of transcoding movies and TV to a set of codecs it can read. So the other day I got a WD TV Live (about $130) to do the har...

Thanks again, Peter. For those wondering how to quickly remove unwanted shopping [or other] channels from your service list... Press the LIST button on your remote. Select the unwanted channel. Press the YELLOW button. OK it. It's gone. And as for the Humax: it may be less advanced than the Wiz in s...

Multiple Wizzes
Thanks. Peter. As an alternative to the Magic Piece of Cardboard (MPC), I'm considering getting an anti-Wiz PVR... Apologies if mentioning non-Wiz gear is sacrilege here. The Humax HDR-7500T is looking attractive at $389 (from the ICE TV site, with an optional "Lifetime" [i.e. five-year] I...

Thanks. Too late, I remembered to check the Wiz instruction book where I found how to delete a station.
Those old paper books... I keep underestimating their persistent power!

ICE TV benefits`
Hi all. I hope Ice TV isn't totally OT, but I'm wondering what its killer features are that make it indispensable to you guys. I've checked out their site and can appreciate keyword recordings, series recordings etc, but if they can't detect the start and end of shows are they much better than the f...

I, too have the missing file lurgi
My NAS is a Synology DS410 and my 'Family Guy' and 'CSI' directories are showing most file, but steadfastly refusing to show some. The missing ones seem random, and are certainly non-consecutive. The Family Guy folder contains 168 files, but the Wiz DP-S1 reports only 126 files. I too have the "...

Next firmware upgrade?
Hi all. The last firmware upgrade for the DP-S1 was in February 2011, and 2012 is not far off.
Is DP-S1 firmware still being updated?
If so when might the next update be expected?
I'm hoping Santa might make my Wizzer be able to play FLAC
Cheers
Mark

Now I run a DP-P1 and a Toppy 2400 in addition to the 5000MP in one room and the H1 in another room. The old Toppy only gets used for weekly shows in timeslots that are likely to be congested where conflictions from late changes may occur. The P1 and the 2400 both get a good workout and it's not ra...

Firmware DPS1-01.05.302
Hi all I sent my DP-S1 Wizzer back for repairs (motherboard repair) and it came back with firmware version DPS1-01.05.302. The latest DP-S1 version I can see anywhere for the S1 is 301, which I'd installed before sending it away for repair. I have seen references in the forum to DP firmware version ...

The end of the screeching and tearing saga
Warkus valiantly tried to fix the PSU, but it did not help. With heavy heart I sent it back to the company that repairs Wizzers in Oz. Their report said they needed to do repairs to the mainboard - but what that entailed was not detailed. Might have been tuners, or something else. But after a MONTH ...

Hi Dennis and Warkus. After testing, I found the squealing and ripping is guaranteed to happen when recording one channel and watching another. Even with time-shifting turned off, it does it regardless of what other electrical appliances are doing. And it has always been perfect until this Tourette'...

Many thanks Ian. I'll check with Beyonwiz. Would you mind posting a contact for Warkus, or email me at nylon@Remove_inbox.com if you'd rather keep it on the QT. I think I'm capable of removing and reinstalling a power supply if needs be. Thanks again Mark Edited by a moderator - not wise to post ema...

What model Beyonwiz do you have? Contrary to the other posts I would like to explore the hard disk change. Did you use a hard drive with power specs the same as, or lower, than the original drive? I am wondering if the power supply in your Beyonwiz is starting to fail. HDD was the same make and bas...

Thanks for the feedback, folks. I'm in Melbourne, but if it turns out to be an antenna issue I'll call in an antenna man. It's odd because reception has always been good here in my non-marginal area, but this on/off breakup of the Wizzer's audio/video has come on suddenly with no apparent cause. Che...

DP-S1 - Screeching audio, ripping & tearing video
Hi all you clever folk. Recently my Wiz has started occasional annoying behaviour, with torn video and screeches in audio, but only intermittently and only on some channels (mainly 10 and SBS). It tends to occur most often when one channel is recording and another is being viewed. It smelled like a ...

For the next hardware build...
Dear Beyonwiz The biggest annoyance I have is juggling concurrent recordings. Do I sacrifice THIS or THAT recording when three or four shows happen at once (which occurs more often than I thought) ? Please be brave and build the first four-HD tuner box. Bliss! I'm sure this must have been suggested ...

Yes. I tried a couple of times but it wouldn't play. Passed it through DivX converter and it was fine. The conversion was unusually quick, so I suspect very little manipulation needed to be done to it. BTW, before conversion it also played nicely through VNC, so it wasn't a dodgy DivX file to start ...

'Unsupported format' vs Info window preview
It's interesting how I tried to play a divX on a DP-S1 with the latest firmware and it refused to play because it was an 'Unsupported format'. However when I went to Popup > Info, the file played very nicely in the little preview window.
I wonder what's going on there!

Ah, good, in theory. But is that immediately obvious to a frantic person whose Beyonwiz has just spewed its guts and needs immediate treatment? Navigating to Korea from the logical download location is a BIG stretch! Is that link to Korea emblazoned in large letters at the firmware download site? It...

Previous firmware versions online
I had to revert to the December 2007 firmware because of problems with the March update - timers not being honoured, and constant HDD error warnings. Unfortunately, the Beyonwiz firmware download feature did not offer the previous firmware download! Luckily I had a backup on my hard disk. Beyonwiz: ...
