After the Wiz - and WD TV Live

It is with considerable regret that I am looking at life after Beyonwiz. As time passes, my poor old S1 is having increasing trouble decoding media files, and I'm getting tired of transcoding movies and TV to a set of codecs it can read. So the other day I got a WD TV Live (about $130) to do the har...

Thanks again, Peter. For those wondering how to quickly remove unwanted shopping [or other] channels from your service list... Press the LIST button on your remote. Select the unwanted channel. Thanks. Peter. As an alternative to the Magic Piece of Cardboard (MPC), I'm considering getting an anti-Wiz PVR... Apologies if mentioning non-Wiz gear is sacrilege here. The Humax HDR-7500T is looking attractive at $389 (from the ICE TV site, with an optional "Lifetime" [i.e. five-year] I...

ICE TV benefits`

Hi all. I hope Ice TV isn't totally OT, but I'm wondering what its killer features are that make it indispensable to you guys. I've checked out their site and can appreciate keyword recordings, series recordings etc, but if they can't detect the start and end of shows are they much better than the f...

My NAS is a Synology DS410 and my 'Family Guy' and 'CSI' directories are showing most file, but steadfastly refusing to show some. The missing ones seem random, and are certainly non-consecutive. The Family Guy folder contains 168 files, but the Wiz DP-S1 reports only 126 files. I too have the "...

Next firmware upgrade?

Hi all. The last firmware upgrade for the DP-S1 was in February 2011, and 2012 is not far off.

Is DP-S1 firmware still being updated?
If so when might the next update be expected?

I'm hoping Santa might make my Wizzer be able to play FLAC :-)

Cheers

Now I run a DP-P1 and a Toppy 2400 in addition to the 5000MP in one room and the H1 in another room. The old Toppy only gets used for weekly shows in timeslots that are likely to be congested where conflictions from late changes may occur. The P1 and the 2400 both get a good workout and it's not ra...

The end of the screeching and tearing saga

Warkus valiantly tried to fix the PSU, but it did not help. With heavy heart I sent it back to the company that repairs Wizzers in Oz. Their report said they needed to do repairs to the mainboard - but what that entailed was not detailed. Might have been tuners, or something else. But after a MONTH ...

Sorry Ian. I meant to say, but forgot.

Please correct me, but I think the relevant data might be the one on the back under the power cord inlet:

I bought it in Feb 2008, if that helps.

When I was using that version in the past the problem never arose.

So it does not look like a firmware issue.

Thanks for the feedback, folks. I'm in Melbourne, but if it turns out to be an antenna issue I'll call in an antenna man. DP-S1 - Screeching audio, ripping & tearing video

Yes. I tried a couple of times but it wouldn't play. Passed it through DivX converter and it was fine. 'Unsupported format' vs Info window preview

It's interesting how I tried to play a divX on a DP-S1 with the latest firmware and it refused to play because it was an 'Unsupported format'. However when I went to Popup > Info, the file played very nicely in the little preview window.

I wonder what's going on there!

I had to revert to the December 2007 firmware because of problems with the March update - timers not being honoured, and constant HDD error warnings.
