One thing that can slow the Synology down is if you upload a lot of photos to it - the photo station (even if it is disabled) will index the files and generate thumbnails. This can tie up the processor and slow down other functions but it would only be a once off - not ongoing.

I upgraded today - I can confirm that the new firmware for the Synology NAS drive fixes the problem. I can now copy and move files from the Beyonwiz to the NAS from the Beyonwiz menu. Happy days are back!
