OK, so I've checked it out and learnt two things. 1 - The AV Bypass button on the P2 mutes the sound but it does nothing on the Lite-i 2 - I should move the Lite-i to the lounge room so the kids don't mute it! Anyway, getting off the original topic now so I'll have to leave you in the hands of the e...

Hmm, I'll take another look tonight - there's definitely a button my kids (or wife!) accidentally presses on occasion which affects the sound only in the manner you describe. I don't use HDMI though but I do have a P2 and a Lite-i so I can check on both machines. Edit: Before any one suggests it - i...

Out of space
Unfortunately, my wife operates this all the time. The concept of deleting recordings and maintaining space is a foreign concept. The Beyonwiz will pop a message up on screen at 6GB of space left and stop recording with 3GB of space left. If your unit is telling you there was still 3GB left, it has ...

Hi Ian, I too have everything on a fixed IP address but occasionally I have to rescan when my NAS drive doesn't wake up quickly enough from power save. It only happens occasionally - usually it just goes back to the device selection but randomly, it will remove the device or shared folder from the l...

I've recently been playing with one of the Samsung SMART TVs (sorry, don't know the model) and was really impressed with the picture quality and the multimedia capabilities. As I noted in previous post, I am certainly no computer expert and can only share my own experience with a similar set up of a DP-P2 and Synology DS209. I have had no such experience with missing files and have confirmed complete access and listing of folders with may files of varying formats. While...

I love some of the suggestions here - it makes me think of all the possibilities that I'd never thought of before! That must be a difference between the NAS devices - the Synology management software has the option to reindex the media files. Also, viewing the folder from another machine after the optimisation keeps those settings that were applied. When I was referring to the Brady Bunch problem - I was meaning...

Out of all my suggestions, I thought enabling the NFS option (being linux related in some way) was the most likely to fix the issue. Was happy but suprised that the folder optiimisation did the job. Reading the original symptoms, I figured it had to be something to do with the file structure - there...

I just checked my set up on the DS209 - no problems scanning a folder with more than 2000 photos in it. I don't have a folder with any other type of media with that many files (nor would I want to, how do you ever find anything?) so I'm not sure my test is definitive. Really shooting in the dark her...

According to the Synology website, you should be running DSM 3.1-1613 being the latest version. This can be checked by logging into DSM, going to the control panel and then DSM Update. That said, I don't think this is your problem. I don't have a lot of experience with these types of files but I kee...

What firmware are you running for the Synology? There was a bug in a version a while back that meant permissions did not correctly cascade through the file structure but this was fixed about a year ago. Another idea might be to try moving your file to a new shared folder (ie outside of your existing...

Something you might wish to play with is the Media Server on the Synology. If you enable it, it allows the Synology to transcode the FLAC files on the fly. @ Tony - the file permissions was a problem in a previous firmware on the Synology NAS, it wasn't correctly filtering down from the parent folder as it should. Upgrading the firmware indeed solved this problem. Now that I think about it again though, this only affected copy, move and delete function...

Thanks Ian, this is more the line of reasoning I was trying to get to. Would it be a difficult thing to add a step in the system to pause and confirm the repair. I'm not suggesting that the Beyonwiz would be the source of any diagnosis but it would give a user the chance to remove the hard drive and...
