Has the status of this request changed at all yet?

The lack of networking will mean it is not a replacement for the BW or Topfield but of course marketing will mean it's sales will outdo them both. One thing that struck me a s funny last night was that SC10 don't have adds on their HD channel, yet there is no extended EPG on it. They drop to their HD promo loop while the SD channel is playing the adds.

That should definitely always be an option for future advancements in DVD drive technology or for additional hard drives, but for the clean look and for simplicity, a built in would be better (IMO). Can the BW play topfield .rec files?

Can the BW play dreambox .ts files?

I beileve it can play DIVX, ifo (DVD) and of course its native format.

that sounds like something that can go into a firmware upgrade. Allow the use of FAT32 drives on the USB port. I am surprised that it does not do that already.

Yeah an external modulator will work, but thats another unit to find a GPO for and it takes up more space. It would stay on as opposed to just turning on and off the stb.
