Fyi,I fixed it myself, as already stated above, with firmware 20190601 as I haven't been able to afford a computer for 10 years for usb upgrade to 20191106 and you can no longer do upgrades online, so I don't have firmware 20191106. Information for anyone else who may have this problem in the future.

Having no computer, I tried formatting the hdd on a cheap Laser set top box to fat3 and then reformatting in the v2.

Success! and it took only seconds.

Now formatted to ext4 and working perfectly.

It's working perfectly well as a set top box but not as a recorder.

Reading the recent posts on the forum it seems apparent that if it is a hardware fault the v2 can't be repaired by bw.

I tried a new use cable that came with the new hdd.
An error message has come up a few times which says to notify the bw forum of but it is so brief I have been unable to capture it.
I'm not sure how to access the logs.

Purchased a new hdd, tried formatting but is not advancing from 51/100.
Under devices it says that it is 'not mounted'

I have just attempted to reformat the hdd and a message appears:

'Initialising storage device...creating file system
51/100
In progress

However, it doesn't seem to be progressing
Is it likely that the hdd has reached its useful life?
It is 4 years old.

I just keep getting the spinning loading wheel and nothing else is responsive until I reboot and then it keeps happening about a minute after rebooting.

Although I can access the files on the hdd, is it possible that there is a problem with the hdd itself and may beed replacing?

It is formatted as ext4 by the v2.
The only fat32 was the extra tuner bsb which I have removed.

I have been successfully using the hdd since June 2019.

Could someone please advise on turning off SBS trial audio description. It is on by default and I have tried changing secondary audio from none to English but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Audio description is usually turned on in secondary audio by choosing Aus or unknown.

Please, I was just following advice from Beyonwiz Sales to make this post to see if the problem existed with other consumers.
If other users do not use or rely on live captions for the deaf please do not comment if it doesn't affect you.
I just want to hear from people who rely upon them.

We definitely do not get a flicker in the EPG and menus while navigating on our V2. ..only in the live captions, which I reiterate make them unwatchable if you are deaf and totally rely upon them. The set up screen and and EPG screen don't flicker when they update on our V2...only the live captions which flicker constantly.

They are unwatchable if you're deaf as is my son who totally relies on them.
Could you please explain what you mean by your last sentence?

I have just received a V2 as a replacement for a DP P1 and the live subtitle captions keep flickering making them unwatchable. Is this a signal problem?
