Ah thanks for that and I can see the pending and completed timers (with their narration). I've extended the completed timer retention period and will check regularly for another failed recording instance and see what the completed timer reports. Cheers

Hi there. Where would I find the timer log please? The timer itself disappears after the recording event. There is a log directory under home\root on the BW. Tuner related questions
Hello there. I am debugging some recent but fortunately rare failed recordings (the recordings were made but with 0 byte file size) and just wanted to clarify my understanding on the tuner setup on my BW U4. It has the three internal tuners and optionally a USB tuner (which I have not implemented bu...

Thanks much appreciated.

Re: Timers not recording - intermittent
Thanks. I think my confusion arose because the download from BW came as a U4 folder, not as a zip file. Don't know why. Hence no beyonwiz folder to extract. So working back I created a beyonwiz folder on the USB drive and copied the untouched U4 folder to the USB beyonwiz folder and the upgrade went...

Re: Timers not recording - intermittent
Thanks for the response. Perhaps I was not clear. When I download the U4 update using the link advised by BW it comes as a folder of six files named U4. One of which is a compressed .bz2 file. When I uncompress this it creates a folder named rootfs (under the U4 root folder) with various sub folders...

Re: Timers not recording - intermittent
Thanks for the response. The firmware version is 17.5.20190207. Would this be the most up-to-date version. If not, and just checking, if I upgrade would my recordings be preserved. I remember with a Topfield I had ages ago that if you updated the firmware it blew away all of your recordings. The err...

Hi there Hopefully this is the correct topic area for this submission. I have a BW U4 (since 2018) and its working very well and reliably. Hi there I have a BW U4 with a 4tb hdd. A few days ago I moved almost 1tb of content from the BW to my NAS via ftp in order to free up space on the BW. Intermittent ˋclickˋ sound on recording playback

I guess another anomaly was that the BW was able to sync properly with the Ice TV server so I did not twig to a connectivity issue. Re: System time not being maintained correctly
Hello again
Just as a further test I have tried to ping all the NTP servers I know of - ISP provided, au.pool variations (0.au, .au and 2.au), and the two IP addresses advised by PeterU. All timed out. Not sure if that is an appropriate test but seems strange.
Cheers

Thanks all for the comments and advice. I'll check out the power timer functionality.
BTW does anyone have an opinion about relative merits of the NTP as a source of time setting, vs getting the time from the TV channel (the other option for this setting in the menu).

Re: System time not being maintained correctly
Hi there
Sorry I just thought of another relevant question:
Is a daily cold reboot of the BW likely to cause it any damage? It would of course increase wear and tear on the HDD which would cause a risk of failure in time.
Cheers again.
