Re: Open Webif mod
Hi Ian, Yes it would be susceptible to the same electrobastardry, though I haven't noticed much of that lately. I just want a TV Guide that isn't polluted with thousands of shows I am never going to watch. Read my previous posts. What I'm proposing is something that has never been seen on a PVR befo...

Re: Open Webif mod
Gully, I do use autotimers, but I also have to sort through all that dross just to find if there's any new series, specials, documentaries or movies I'd like to watch buried under that huge pile of drek. Peter, I think it would integrate into the current setup neatly. There's an empty space for a ne...

Open Webif mod
I use open webif daily to check the program guide to select what I want to record and I love it to bits. The one thing I would LOVE to have is the ability to select a program I am NEVER going to watch and be able to hit a 'Never Show Me This Again' button. I'm constantly seeing programs like 'The Wo...

Re: Access to Root folder
There is an ability in Win 10 to delete stored server login details. This should remove the necessity to use workarounds to access the root folder in machines using the new firmware. Press [Windows Key] X to bring up hidden command window. Select 'Command Prompt (Admin)' Copy this to the clipboard ...

Re: Access to Root folder
Two-bob Guide to Windows Browse Master operation. Windows Peer to Peer Networking has always been a bit quick and dirty. One thing it used to do, and almost certainly still does, is all that guff about a Browse Master. The MS tech manuals from long ago (think W95, W98 or maybe even W3.11), explaine...

Re: Access to Root folder
"You will notice that the error will mention something about connecting to the same resource as a different user. " Tried it - no banana. Even with the correct login and password. Not interested in learning telnet for one use. I'm 63 next month and too damn cranky. I'll try loading the upd...

Re: Access to Root folder
Oh, I forgot. Editing the /etc/samba/smb.conf file is a good idea - AFTER I've got access to the root folder.

Re: Access to Root folder
In my Windows 10 there is the option to login using different credentials. It didn't work. I got the syntax of your other suggested option wrong, so that didn't work either. Change Network Password: Whether to press OK or Exit is not obvious. The fact that going back in doesn't show me the last succ...

Re: Access to Root folder
I read almost everything in the new firmware update forum when the update first came out, noted it down and used it to try to login into the CIFS root folder after upgrading. It's a shame it didn't work. The change network password option did work, but only on about the 25th attempt. That screen is ...

Re: New Firmware for all T-Series Models (T2/T3/T4) 10/03/20
Hi All, I'm excited to try the new firmware, but won't be installing it anytime soon. I've fine-tuned so many settings that I really don't want to have to re-do all that work, I'd rather not have to re-enter all my carefully adjusted timers too. I'll wait until there's a way to keep most of my setti...

Re: T4 system cooling
Thanks for the part no. DN0Q44QAH109A. I think it's DN(ZERO)Q44Q..... It's all a bit of a mystery. The only mention of it I can find through google is a wholesaler in China who sells them in minimum 1000 quantities. It seems to be made by a division of a division of Samsung. Samsung Electro-Mechanic...

Re: T4 system cooling
Yes. Turning the top cover would put more vents at the left end and less at the right end. It would be a start. I imagine that the machine probably only consumes a couple of watts in shutdown - only the clock and the power supply are running. Even conduction through a totally sealed case could handl...

Re: T4 system cooling
Yes, Peter, you're right about the fan. I set it to permanently on. Convectional cooling isn't going to do it - not with a box that compact and filled up with all that stuff. No desktop computer relies on convectional cooling, T4's can't do it either. I haven't used the tape as a permanent solution ...

T4 system cooling
I love my T4 and would like to contribute one of my own skills to making it a better product. So, take this as a contribution, not a criticism. System cooling is really lousy. Fortunately, it can be improved fairly easily and very cheaply. The problem is that there are too many vents in the box. The...
