Strangely enough, I have the same NAS, but using a V2 and have no problem mounting with AUTOFS (and everything else similar to that described here). Go figure I guess. Your odds of a warranty replacement may depend on what caused it to fail (e.g. a power outage / pulling the cable out while it was writing might not cut it).

Possible the HDD is fried. More likely there is an extreme file system corruption. I had a power outage some time back and had a similar problem. I was able to recover the recordings to my PC, which were not apparently impacted. Deleted all partitions on the HDD, attached to the V2 and all was well...
