Request for updates for channel picons

The build system automatically picks up the most up to date version of picons that prl has pushed to the master branch of the Bitbucket repository. From what I see, the last update was a merge on 2020‑04‑05 and includes the commit "Update Brisbane, Perth & Sydney" from two days earlier.

There appear to be no updates to picons since then.

Crosschecking the package version information against the git commit hash confirms that the latest available version is included in the USB image and in the feed.

Sorry, I grabbed your scan file, but then I'm afraid that it got parked and forgotten.

I've now merged that scan data into my picon setup data, but it actually makes no practical difference to the picon setup for Spencer Gulf/Port Pirie, so I haven't merged it into the picon repository.

Could you be specific about what issues you're having with the Spencer Gulf picons?

OK, found the problem. I was using 'git status -uno' (only show modified, files, not ones in the source, but not in therepository) to see the repository changes and that excluded the links need for Spencer Gulf.

Getting the commit ready now.

10 Shake is due to launch soon, so perhaps after that's included into the repository IanSav will ask one of his o/s buddies to build the picons package for hosting on his feed server, thus then being available to load via his update plugin, or alternatively fetched and loaded manually as FAQ'ed on this forum.

Does anyone know when, exactly? I just googled it and all the items seemed to come from the same Ten presser, and none was more specific that "September".

Jasmeet181 doesn't seem to have made a logo for it yet.

Hi,

Given the financial issues at Network 10 including the firing of so many of their people perhaps the new service may be on shaky ground. (Though I expect that another channel will mean more advertising revenue.

)

But I need to get Sydney scan data before I'll be able to commit the changes to the repository.

From what Ian has told me elsewhere, the Ten changes don't simply mean that there is no picon for 10Shake: some picons in the current setup will be applied to the wrong channels.

I'm all ready to go as soon as I get the Sydney & Adelaide scan data

If I don't get it today, I may not be able to do much with the data until Sunday or Monday; we have some house guests staying for a few days.

Do the strange service names show up in the Terrestrial TV LCN bouquet (or the Nine provider list)?
The SIDs (if taken stand-alone) belong to SBS ONE (301) and SBS VICELAND HD (303).

It looked OK on the TV but something was odd if I looked in OpenWebif (although I didn't make notes...). I have now done a rescan and it looks OK (I think).

Yes, 59 services listed is what I'd expect for a mainland capital.
You've still screen-scraped that java script somehow, so prl will need to trim the crud.

Just in case tyreless's scan doesn't work out, here's Sydney's scan from just now.

I see the Shake trailer loop is being broadcast at 704x576, presumably that'll be fixed to 720x576 when they go live. The quality looks pretty awful too, both technically and content. Pretty sure it won't make my favourites bouquet...

They're not in the second scan data that tyreless sent, though it still has the Javascript <script/> element in it. I'm not sure how that got there. I've never seen it in any other scan data that I've been sent.

Actually, no. My script that processes the scan data ignores everything that's not in a <e2service/> element.

But I'll probably still use the version stevebow posted, just because it's a bit smaller and cleaner.

The picon updates for 10 Shake are now in the repository, ready to be included in the next release.

The updated scan data for Adelaide also removes unused picon setup for openshop and 44 Adelaide.

Something odd seems to have happened with the picon upgrade. My changes are in the main picon repository, but have not made it to my test T4, which is running 20200919 and is saying that there are no updates available (I'd expect that the update with the picons would be 20200920).

There is no /picon/channel_picons/10shake_lw.png or /piconlcd/channel_picons/10shake_lw.png on the T4, nor any links in /picon or /piconlcd that point to a 10shake_lw.png file.

The problem appears to be an update issue, not a problem in the picon setup (though because I can't test any setup with 10 Shake, I can't be certain that there aren't problems with the picon setup as well).

My changes to support 10 Shake and the other changes in the 10 lineup were merged into the main picon repository at about 11am yesterday (20 Sep) morning.

Thanks, Steve. That confirms that the setup itself seems to be OK, at least for Perth.

I had to hand-modify the scan data for some regions that scan both regional stations an a capital (specifically Gold Coast, Gold Coast North and Sunshine Coast, which also contain Brisbane scan data), and there could be errors there, but the capitals that have 10 Shake (Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth & Sydney) are automatically generated from unmodified scan data, so if Perth is OK, they should be OK too.

I've now seen an update offer on my test T4 and updated. Canberra doesn't get 10 Shake (and it sounds like that won't bother me much), so I can't test for its picons directly, but after updating, the picon files are on the T4, and the serviceref links to them.

So when are the rest of us getting them? I don't see why I have to switch to a beta feed for picons. I don't want to run beta firmware on my pvr.

Here's the picon package that was included in the 20200920 beta. I used it to install the picons on our T2 which is still on old firmware.
