Tuners stopped working

Post by JayDee » Sat Oct 08, 2022 11:15

Hi All

I have a T4, and the tuners have stopped working. It’s not an aerial, signal or TV issue. They all work if I take the T4 out of the loop. But, with it looped in, no signal, and no TV.
Any thoughts brains trust?

You have a known fault with the T4. The voltage regulators for the tuners overheat and die. On the way, this destroys the heatsink cement, which then corrodes the motherboard.

Stop using it immediately and send it to Nasa Electronics In Sydney. They may be able to fix it if the corrosion is not too bad. Grumpy_Geoff found contact details for Nasa here: viewtopic.php?f=50&t=15166&p=200239&hil ... cs#p200239

If you keep using it, the damage will become irreparable.

You are a legend. Thanks.
Yes I have decommissioned the box. So I’ll sent I’ll sort it out now that I know what to do.

Hopefully, you have caught it in time. As a precaution I have a 120mm 5v USB fan sitting on the case above my tuners.

If you get the chance, ask if Nasa can upgrade the heatsinks to avoid a recurrence of the voltage regulators failing. That would make a fan unnecessary.
