Strange audio issues on 10Shake?
Strange audio issues on 10Shake?
Hi guys,
I'm wondering if anyone has noticed that in movies recorded from 10Shake, there are weird sounds during the quiet scenes in a movie?
It sounds like beach waves rising for 1-2 seconds and then it quietens down back to silent. I don't have any audio normalisation or anything on the V2 and LG C9.
Is this just bad encoding of the audio being transmitted on this channel? I have noticed the issue on the other sub channels.

I haven't watched much Shake to have noticed this.
If you copy the file to your PC and play it back there, you can check if you can still hear the noise.
If it is still audible on the PC, then it would be part of the transmission from 10.
MIght be some auto gain control happening on the broadcaster or content provider's end.

Re: Strange audio issues on 10Shake?
Thanks for the suggestion.
Using VLC's audio visualisations, it appears some kind of audio level normalisation occurs during the first few seconds after an ad break - coinciding with those annoying ads promoting other shows.
If the show has quiet scenes during this period, the audio levels appears raised and you can hear the background noise at much higher levels than the director would have intended.
I've only noticed this on 10Shake and not on the other 10 sub channels, which is a little strange because you would think they would be using the same ad-injecting software for all stations...

I get the same jump in sound and then it drops back down on peach. Now i think of it i'll check the topfield downstairs, if it's the broadcast it will be doing the same thing.
Re: Strange audio issues on 10Shake?
Thanks guys for confirming.
I haven't recorded anything on 10Peach, but will test later (if I can remember).
The HD channels (10HD, 10Bold) don't appear to be affected.
