It might be the time of day.

You really don't need to clear the cache unless there is a problem.

I read somewhere that the best time to fetch IceTV updates is mid to late afternoons just after the IceTV staff complete their database updates. When are you checking/updating the guide?

Regards,
Ian.

Hi Foxtail,

Perhaps they aren't able to get enough data in advance. This is something that Daniel will probably have to address.

Regards,
Ian.

IceGuide slowly peters out

My IceGuide slowly peters out from 7 days to 6 to 5 to eventually nothing after a week or two.

To fix this I ?Clear IceGuide Disk Cache?, I do this a couple of times a week or when I notice the Guide has only a few days in advance showing, this will refresh the Guide back to the full 7 days.

I'm hoping a new firmware will be released soon to fix this problem, but, your comment Gully makes me wonder if I've missed something. :?:

Seems a bit strange to me.

Have a look on the setup page and see what messages are showing. Maybe there is something else failing as I don't think anyone else has had it fade away to that extent.

hmmm, as I said if I clear cache the guide refreshes successfully for full 7 days, and in Setup, Network, Ice Guide, check user info pings OK, however, in Select Device, nothing is listed.
I have setup remote in my icetv account IE: options, devices, the Beyonwiz is listed as ID:0, I just tried redoing it as saving but it made no difference, still nothing listed in select device, this may be why my guide is slowly petering out.

Have you entered anything in the name field for ID:0?

You need to.

Yes the ID:0 Namie in my IceTV account, Remote, Options, Devices is Beyonwiz and Beyonwiz S1 is selected as the recorder.

I presume the wiz should collect this information and display it in setup device for me to select, but it isn't listed.

So what happens when you select device?

Maybe try a shorter name.

Try setting up another device in the remote options on the icetv website.

BTW how often do you reboot the S1? And are you using WLAN? The S1 only tries to connect to your network while booting up.

Thanks Dave & Gully
The device is now selected (a few days ago, playing around on the icetv website reseting remote may have done the trick somehow, anyway it was listed a couple of days ago in the wiz and is now selected), I thought that would fix the problem, but, the guide is still slowly petering out.

Both computer and Beyonwiz are left on 24/7, rare to reboot unless I do it accidentally, or for a firmware update, so I believe the network should remain connected 24/7.

Yes it's a WLAN

Messages: for example I just checked Network, Ice Guide, messages are 'Try to get epg data, Wait 60 minutes to get epg data, Bad IceLink message received from server'
Sometimes there is a 'failed to get epg data' also and other messages.

Ok, the beyonwiz currently has 2 issues that could be affecting you.

1) It only connects to your network when it's first turned on. If the WLAN drops out you will need to reboot to get it back.

2) There's a bug if it's left on 24/7 that appears after being left on for a number of days.

So with the current public release firmware you are better off turning the beyonwiz off and on every now and then.

Thank you, thank you.

My wife has stopped beating me now that the guide is fixed.
