Kodi IPTV Simple Client

Hi, just got the V2 and installed Kodi.

On other devices in my home I have installed IPTV Simple client and use it to merge the EPG from IPTV-AU, Kayo and Binge.

I can’t find the IPTV Simple Client Add-on anywhere.

Can someone please help.

Not sure about getting the plugin itself to run, as it doesn't look like it is in the default repo. The V2 doesn't have anything in the PVR addons category in fact.

However, most commercial streaming options like Binge likely won't work as the version of Kodi on the V2 is a bit old (v17) and doesn't support the latest DRM countermeasures that are included in Kodi 18 and 19.

Kayo has been reported as working some time ago, but I don't know if anything has changed since then (and I haven't actually used it myself).

I haven't had a chance to check the OpenATV version of the V2 firmware to see if it has the extra addons in it. I will when I get a chance. However, the OpenATV firmware is very much in a state of flux at the moment, so it is not really recommended to install right now.

Kayo Sports is working. Haven’t tried Binge yet.
I would have thought that there would be a way of downloading the IPTV Simple Client, but I can’t find it anywhere.

Just tried the latest OpenATV firmware on my spare V2. This firmware runs Kodi v19.

There was no IPTV Simple Client plugin available that I could find in my quick search.

I'm not sure why. Maybe the plugin relies on a X86 architecture ie. maybe its not just pure python? Dunno.

I had a look to see if I could simply download a copy of the plugin to install manually, but there didn't look like an easy way to do that from the source repository.

It is listed under addons for Ubuntu which points to the general Wiki page for IPTV Simple Client plugin https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:IPTV_Simple_Client where there are Instructions for setting up Ubuntu clients.

I found something that I thought was an IPTV-simple-client zip, but it didn’t work.

It seems like I could ‘build’ the program myself, but that might be a stretch for me.

No big drama I guess, it was just handy to have FTA, Kayo, and Binge channels all linked up together in the one EPG.
