Which SD Card
Which SD Card
OK, I finally purchased the V2. I am told that I'll be needing an SD Card. So, I wanted to ask advice as to which would be the best one to buy.
Any advice would be appreciated

I bought this one:

which came recommended by one of the forum members, I can't remember who though.

Re: Which SD Card
There is a thread here with some previous bargains:

The Samsung and SanDisk U3 rated cards are ones worth buying.
It might be worth considering one of the "high endurance" models and paying the small price premium. These cards will do a lot of writing if used for timeshift and recordings, so lots of endurance is good.
Good time to buy this week too with all the tech bargains on for Black Friday.

Re: Which SD Card
If using an external hard drive is an SD Card really necessary. I'm not running one at the moment and so I'm just wondering if I'm missing something by not having one installed.

Re: Which SD Card
No, the there is no compelling reason to have an SD card if you have a harddisk fitted.
If the SD card is the ONLY storage you have, then it cuts down on clutter.
If you record to NAS, then having SD storage allows you you save config backups and other miscellaneous stuff locally.
And the SD card does have a slight advantage in that it will always be mounted as "HDD" if the SD card is present, so it is more predictable than a plug in harddisk (in case you boot up with multiple disks connected).
I use SD cards on mine because I don't need a lot of capacity, and the card is neater than a HDD.

Re: Which SD Card
Hi Judy,
As you Intend using a USB hard drive ex the T4, the SD card appears to be an optional extra.
Regards, Paul
