How to keep my cat off my T3!

Post by netmask » Fri Jan 15, 2021 07:48

Pictures are worth a thousand words. He loves sitting on top of my T3. “It’s warm!” From today I’m shutting down completely and turning the power off.

find /home -type cat -delete

Alternatively, put something over the top. Maybe one of these:

Peter that's a good idea! My cat will love that - elevation to be able to survey his realm and dutiful slave... :D

If the advertisement I found for it is the same one that you found, I think that you'll find its height (44mm) means that it won't fit over the top of your T3 without the application of a considerable amount of force ;)

The T3 is 67mm high, and you'll need to allow some space for air circulation.

I like the principle, though. It should also still be warm enough for the cat to appreciate :)

Since then a battle of wits human versus Burmese mogi. Currently Human = 1 Mogi = 0 !! A very resentful Mogi but has conceded temporary defeat. I relocated an old turn of the 20th century model steam engine to sit on top of the BW as per the illustration

Plenty of air flow and as it's all metal the feet should act as a bit of a heat sink. Fingers crossed.

You just like showing off your collection of model steam engines! ;)

Going back you your original idea, this monitor stand has more like the right dimensions (though it may be too wide: 600mm), though I agree it's not as elegant as your original choice:

Steam engines courtesy of a late TV engineering friend. There are more but these two did the trick until I can have a new lid fabricated that is Mr Cat unfriendly. It is surprising the amount of heat the engines are radiating. Good heat sinks. My family has a history of cats from my grandmother and before, who had 6 circus trained performing white cats. So Mr Cat is very much a companion as a simple moggy. We also had dogs and cockatoos. The complete menagerie :)

Tsk, tsk, tsk, if you are trying to stop your cat from finding ways to stay and warm his bum on the warm recording device, you are obviously not a 100% cat slave trained properly by your cat.

We have lost count of the number of times ours has licked her bits on top of our v2. Just as well it has a smaller surface area and can take her 4.5 kilos of hairy, torbie ass on top of it.

Now it's a case of let her do her thing or go and get some serious mental therapy.

Does it fit under the shelf? Maybe make some brackets and mount underneath with sufficient cleareance for air flow

No it doesn't fit under the shelf and the solution I have works well and finally the engines are on display rather than inside a cupboard. My cat has decided he likes to sit underneath it now. so as they say a win win solution.
