A Little problem with filezilla

Post by Mr Electrickery » Mon Jul 08, 2019 04:06

Hi Everyone,
just a small problem with FileZilla that I'm hoping that at least others are having as well.
When I start FileZilla up I get a message that says " This Server does not support FTP over TLS" and at the bottom of the message box there is a check box that says " Always allow insecure plain FTP for this server".

I check the box but next time I have to restart FileZiilla it asks same question. I have just recently had an update to latest version, 3.43.0. As I said its not a big deal but would be nice to make it go away. Attaching screen shot. Oh and in previous version checking box worked from memory so I am guessing its a bug.
Thanks every Body
Cheers

I noticed mine came up with the same ‘Insecure FTP connection’ message yesterday after I updated FileZilla.

I have just been clicking on OK at that popup instead of ticking the box & I can then access the Wiz, but of course the message will still reappear the next time a Wiz is accessed.

A Google search came up with the following:
http://manual.amstechdns.com/ftpssl/

I haven’t made those changes though.

I use SFTP via SSH private/public key files, so I don't need to set a root user password and don't get prompted -

Code: Select all

Status:	Connecting to beyonwizt4...
Status:	Connected to beyonwizt4
Status:	Retrieving directory listing...
Status:	Listing directory /home/root
Status:	Directory listing of "/home/root" successful

I entered the Wiz details in Site Manager but I still get the same popup message when trying to connect to our U4s. Clicking on OK of course lets me connect, the same as before.

Accessing the Wiz via Site Manager seems to achieve the same as using ‘Quickconnect’, but it may survive a file cleanup with CCleaner whereas ‘Quickconnect’ doesn’t.

Is there no option in that dropdown to simply connect without encryption? It's not required of you're connecting via your own LAN.

Yep, there's 'Only use plain FTP (insecure)' for Encryption.

And when that option is selected and saved, it isn't sticking? Sounds like a FileZilla bug then.

Dunno, as I use SFTP via SSH private/public key files.
The punters appear to be using FTP over TLS.

Yes there is & that stops the popup. :)

The sequence to change it is:
Under ‘Site Manager > under each Wiz under ‘My Sites’ > change ‘Encryption:’ from ‘Use explicit FTP over TLS if available’ to ‘Only use plain FTP (insecure)’, then press OK.

You just then need to use ‘Site Manager’ instead of ‘Quickconnect’ to stop the popup.
