Evening news from Sunday, 12 Aug 2018

If anyone happens to have a recording of the evening news from Sunday, 12 Aug 2018, I'd like to get a copy please. My son participated in setting the new world record for the most electric guitars playing at the same time and was apparently filmed by all the networks that covered the event. I've got the footage from Seven News, who also interviewed him, but his school friends told him that they saw him on other networks too. It would be nice to get a copy of that footage too, preferably in HD.

I've got ABC (Melb) News for Sunday if that's any good.

If the ABC news bulletin contains coverage of the world record for most electric guitars playing the same song (AC/DC, Highway To Hell), that was set in Chatswood, Sydney, then I'd love to get a copy. If you could check (perhaps watch using FFWD mode), that would be great. It could save some potentially pointless effort in case ABC have not covered the event. I can't check using iView, since they do not have Sunday news available.

I checked online and it would appear that SBS did not cover the event.

Both Ten and Nine content is DRM protected, so grabbing a copy from their online services is not an option.

I have the camera footage from Seven as well as the news recording, so that is covered.

I was quite surprised when all the news cameras started flocking to my son as he was warming up for the event. I guess he was probably the youngest participant. Strangely, none the cameras or the operators were flying any corporate colours or insignia, so I actually don't know which networks ended up with the footage. Channel Seven interviewed him after the event and got an encore performance, but that footage did not air on Sunday.

As an aside, I can't believe how poor Channel Nine are at fact checking. Their news story was just plain wrong.

The YouTube clips are either people's phone footage of the entire event or mega-low-res news footage.

I'm, trying to collect the broadcast news coverage so that my son can bring it to school with him for his show-and-tell next week, when his teacher returns back from hospital. Of course, he'll also do a live performance

The TV news segments are convenient and succinct and make it look a bit "official". It's still going to be a number of weeks until Guinness World Records send out the certificates.

Nothing good to report.

Tried searching for the Ten news report on TenPlay on the WizTV Dongle but the Dongle navigation was extremely difficult. Couldn't scroll past the first screen.

Tried the app on the mobile but still couldn't find the Sunday news bulletin. Only selected clips.

If it exists on any service we should be able to Chromecast it and record it via the T4 though.

OK good news. I have footage from Seven, Nine and Ten. SBS had no coverage, so that just leaves a question mark over whether ABC footage is worth pursuing.

Thanks. He's a big fan of Officially Amazing, so adding a "world record" to his primary school homework activities is a bit of a buzz. It also teaches him that having a go at something and putting in the hard work gets him results.

I still have the ABC HD and SBS HD news 12 August - what should I look for? Just did a quick check and it stopped recording at the 37m mark middle of Golf... it's a repeating timer and I think Sunday goes longer..

See if there is a segment about a lot of guitars playing in Sydney.

If there is, I'd like to grab a copy of that segment please.

I check it through tomorrow Saturday and let you know.. I am worried however that it might have been an end filler after the sporting section and that's where my timer stopped..

I've had a look right through the Melbourne edition and there is nothing, I'd recorded it right up to the start of next programme so it must have been Sydney only.

Checked my copy but was not the complete news bulletin the time ran for 37 minutes so it could have been after the golf segment. Maybe getting in touch with ABC TV news direct might help.

I think I'll be OK with the footage I have so far. Seven seems to have done the best job, including actually having accurate facts about the story.
