We are pleased to officially announce that work has begun on integrating IceTV into the Beyonwiz T3. At this stage we are estimating the integration will take around 10 – 12weeks but we will keep you updated here on any changes to the schedule. IceTV have also confirmed that if you already have an IceTV subscription that the T3 can be added to your account as one of your devices (on up to 5 devices subs) so no need for a separate subscription just for the T3.

For all of you that have already purchased a T3 and do not have an Ice Account we will offer a free trial on launch so watch this space 

Fantastic news.... just makes the T3 so much better.

Good to see that the 2 companies have come to an agreement - great news for the T3 community.

Looks like the 4 years for $149 offer has expired, but I already had a support ticket in the system specifically stating I want to renew with this offer but only if/when T3 was supported. I have replied on that ticket tonight and waiting hopefully for a response...

Couldn't get the 4 year deal but they gave me 1 year for $49. Now just have to wait that 10-12 weeks... hope it can be quicker!

Not sure how the 10-12 weeks in the first post came down to 8-10 weeks but I haven't heard anything new regardless.

This coming Thursday will be seven weeks - so they still have 3-5 weeks after that and still be within their initial estimate.

I know many of us (myself included) are keen to have IceTV on the T3, but give them a chance...

Obviously we don't expect it to be finished yet, but a progress report should not be too hard...
I work on software projects, and my clients expect regular updates, usually once a week.

"development finished, in testing phase, on schedule for release early Sept"
or
"some problems with feature x, release may be delayed"
etc.

How about "Development in progress." ?

Seriously, I'd much rather see time and effort spent on getting things done than placating a few vocal forum members.

I don't know of many software companies that issue progress reports on the development progress of consumer software. Usually, it's quite the contrary.

The IceTV website says it will support the T3 from November 2014. See http://www.icetv.com.au/about/compatibility.shtml. I will buy one when it is supported, until then the DP-P2 is going ok since replacing the electros and diodes in the power supply, and re-routing the power supply cable. Fingers crossed.

Hmmm.... The same table says the FV-L1 is IceTV compatible. Is this true? I'm referring to an off the shelf FV-L1, not one that has been turned into a P1.

I don't have an FV-L1 to test, but FV-L1 is selectable as a Device Type in IceTV's My Account>My Recorders.

Where they're on less solid ground is their claim that "All the TV recorders that work with IceTV have a 30 second forward and back skip button". I've pointed out that this is not possible on the (supported) FV-L1 a number of times on the IceTV forum, but word doesn't yet seem to have made it to IceTV marketing.

I don't think (as far as anyone knows) that there's anything in ShackleView that would stop a badged product from having IceTV.

I don't really care, as long as it is done in the foreseeable future, although I would have preferred to have seen it 'yesterday'.


It's rather frustrating to get notified on this thread thinking that it is now available, only to get disappointed once again.... yet here I am posting that'll annoy others too.... doh!

We will give you an update soon. As far as we are concerned we will be close to or a little over the 10 - 12weeks as first quoted but we are also reliant on the Ice new server side of things that is currently giving a little trouble but we are working through it together, I think Ice have been very very conservative by listing November, both parties are determined to have it out way sooner and close to the original estimate.

I am holding off purchasing a T3 until this is done. I also need the T3 to be a stable unit. I don't like how it was pushed out early so bug ridden using the early adopters as Beta testers. I'm also hoping the prices will come down as well. The cost of a HDD comparing the prices of models don't add up. Fingers crossed the IceTV integration will happen sooner than later. My DP-P1 is holding on by a thread.

You are also paying for the HDD to be fitted (somewhere it was posted they all arrive empty and have HDDs fitted locally before shipping). I think about 30% on top of the drive cost is not unreasonable for that, but if you are competent to do it yourself then by all means do so, like I did.

I, like many others I suspect, am also waiting for IceTV integration before purchasing the T3. Solid unit performance, including the 4th USB tuner, is also highly desirable, and may also delay purchase.

My DP-P2 is very solid in the meantime, and keeping WAF high.

And I have purchased another P2, because it is a known quantity, it just works, has IceTV, and one of the best programmable skip and jump navigation that I know of in either PVRs or media players.

I'm not discounting the T3, I have no experience of it. But I don't need the extra tuners (I'm sure some do) and I don't need it as a media player as I shifted to HTPCs a while back. Good luck with it developing as a good all-round unit.

Umm, I just don't get why people would choose to pay for a TV guide in this day and age? And you even think its a deal breaker by not having it! The T3 has a perfectly good EPG, and you can set auto timers for series recording if you want. Ha, I just can't believe you people really willingly pay $150 for an iphone app with a TV guide.. Crazy!

Have you not read any topics about the bugs in Autotimer? Also, the broadcast EIT EPG doesn't have the information needed to exclude repeats reliably.

Just because you don't 'get it' doesn't mean others should share your point of view. Why do you care if others can see the value in IceTV where you can't? It's a totally voluntary purchase and has no impact on those who are content with the standard FTA EPG.
Your description of IceTV as 'an iPhone app with a TV guide' displays ignorance of the product and I'd be surprised if you've ever even used it. Don't be a hater!

So either some people are irrational or you're missing something?

As is often the case, you can save a buck if you accept some hassles but some people don't mind paying a nominal amount for things to just work.

I'm one of those that prefers less hassle.

Apart from the image background the icetv EPG looks the same as the default.

What were you expecting?

I was presuming something similar to the DP-S1 icetv interface. It has its own skin different than that provided by the tuner.

The DP series only had one epg style that it used for ota epg and ice epg.

Me too for the guinea pig thing! We are stuck on our dp-p2 as we only use icetv. The the t3 is gathering dust!

Spinoff, do try the autotimers on the t3, they work well.

On that note, a question about the t3 icetv implementation.

Does ice set an autotimer or a manual timer in the t3?

Just curious since the t3 will adjust the start and stop times of an autotimer in line with the provider's latest epg data. It would be nice if ice set a broad autotimer which was then fine tuned by the t3.

I am assuming it will set a non-repeating manual timer for each recording, that's how it works on the DP series. Also, if you're using IceTV you're also using their EPG data, not the provider's EPG's.

IceTV timers are created as single event timers that are "managed" by the IceTV server. AutoTimers are kept completely separate and are never seen or affected by the IceTV server. This is by design, because you would end up with an awful and unpredictable mess if you had the AutoTimer being constantly changed by two sources. You can still use AutoTimers with IceTV, but they will be handled completely independently of IceTV services and not visible through IceTV web site or apps. Normal single event timers created on the T3 will be sent to IceTV.

As far as AutoTimers tracking the live EPG data, that will only be as good as what IceTV can provide. Right now the IceTV data seems to be always aligned on 5 minute boundaries and the data is updated a number of times during business hours. In contrast, the broadcast EPG can be accurate down to the last second and is completely live, with a refresh frequency of anywhere between 10 and 30 seconds.

You have to decide between IceTV or FTA EPG source. You can't have both at the same time. Again, this is by design - you can't have all your EPG entries doubled up and overlapping.

Yea, I can understand how you don't want two sources managing the same timer.

I was just hoping that the ice service could set a broad(ish) timer that was tagged as an ice-defined autotimer that t3 then fine tune using the detailed broadcast info. Then ice would only be allowed to delete or otherwise edit the timer if the event was moved drastically outside its original timeslot.

Ahh well, like I say, I can see why you'd want to keep things a bit simpler for the sake of consistency, but i can dream can't I?

Not to mention the bugginess of autotimers matching the wrong program when there are consecutive autotimers and longish padding.
