U4 remote control wont fast forward

Recently the fast forward buttons stopped working, thought it might be battery related but every other button works as normal. The button either side of the 'ok' button don't work. To move video forward or back I can only use the buttons on top and below of the 'ok' button. Better than nothing but not as precise. Has anyone come across this issue before?

Assuming you are taking about the LEFT and RIGHT arrow buttons, those are set to skip functions, not FF/REW.

Do you can still skip back, with the LEFT button, but not forward with the RIGHT button?

And the same effect in menus, you can navigate left, but not right?

Of so, then it does sound like that button has physically packed it in.

A quick thing to try might be a fresh set of batteries just in case.

You could attempt a repair by opening up the remote and cleaning off the contacts on that button.

If that doesn't work, you might be able to temporarily work around that by enabling the keypad skip buttons. That will give you more results to skip forward using the 3,6 and 9 buttons.

Ultimately, if the remote can't be repaired, you'll need to replace it. I'm not sure what options exist for an original remote these days...... New or second hand.

Or else you could go down the universal remote route. Now that the Logitech Harmony line is discontinued, I'm not sure what your best option is there either.

Cheers for all the ideas. Don't wanna open it up because I know I'll end up wrecking it. The one in the shop is good to know. The using the numbers instead sounded good so I went into settings. While in there I came up with a different idea. I changed the time on the 'Up' skip button to the same as the left and rights. So down to 10 seconds . Problem solved.

The 'ok' button now barely works and if it does get going then the stop button doesn't work . It's made the device unusable so I've ordered a new remote.

Got my new remote today but had to use old remote to access setup menu, which was almost a disaster coz the ok button barely works so choosing stuff on the menus was touch and go, almost 5 minutes on each choice with multiple presses of the ok. But finally got the new remote connected and now it's effortless to use the pvr now.

Most intermittent remotes can be fixed relatively easily. If you can get them open in the first place.
