T2 and V2

Post by bobrichter » Fri Aug 07, 2020 15:27

I have a T2 and a V2 PVR.
I have them connected to the same TV via looping the antenna (in) from the V2 to the T2. I have perfect picture quality from both but am unable to get 'sound' when using the T2! Both are each connected to Input 1 and Input 2 (HDMI) on my LG OLED TV.
If I record on the T2 it will play fine perfectly except no sound. If I transfer the recording (done on the T2) over to the V2 it plays fine and it has sound!! I've swapped out the HDMI cables on both PVRs with no result.
I await your expert opinions on this.
Thank you in advance
Bob

You might have the UHD mode set on both HDMI ports (or whatever it is called on your TV).

It's not needed for the T2 and posts here say others get the same problem.

What's the go with this question lately? :) This has suddenly popped up about 4 times just this week!

You have plugged the T2 into a 4K UHD TV with the HDMI Ultra Deep Colour Setting, or "Enhanced HDMI" mode enabled.

The T2 chipset is too old to deal with the newer standard, so you need to plug it into a port on the TV that doesn't have that enhanced setting enabled.

You can also choose to run audio out from the T2 via Optical as an alternative, but I have personally noticed that doing it this way, you may still notice slightly different colour saturation from the T2.

Maybe people have been using downtime to buy up on home entertainment gear.

The local Canberra Times has been stuffed full of multi-page ads for electronics and whitegoods from JB, Harvey Norman and Domayne since the lockdown started.
