Surveillance Hard Drives

Post by craigh » Fri May 29, 2020 08:21

The drive in my T4 seems to be getting a bit less reliable so have been looking for a replacement.

I saw the RED NAS drives then noticed the Surveillance version with firmware optimised for for sequential read / write rather than random read / write.

Any views on the suitability ?

The old media drives I assume were similar to the Surveillance ones ?

Waste of money in my opinion. The Wiz doesn't need anything exotic, and it's nearly impossible to guarantee longevity from any model.

Just buy one with low power consumption and low noise. The WD Greens are more than sufficient.
