U4 has no sound

A circuit breaker tripped and my U4 lost power while on. When the breaker was reset and the U4 came on it had video but no sound. The U4 plays through a Yamaha RX-V2600 which outputs to a Panasonic TV and Bose speakers. Connections are via HDMI cables (not the Bose). The Yamaha's tuner is working fine and hence the Bose speakers also. The U4 was purchased January 2019.

I have tried the obvious such as rebooting and checking mute switches and the Yamaha's audio settings. Please help if you can. If I backup and then restore to factory settings, do I lose my recorded programs? I am not familiar with most of the technical stuff so no big words please.

Apart from the obvious mute button and volume buttons, I'd expect it to work but HDCP sometimes causes a loss of sound if all your gadgets get out of sync. Forcing a temporary change of resolution usually fixes that if it is the cause of the grief. Failing that, I would turn off the power switch on the U4 for say, 20-30 seconds and then back on, in case it is a hardware issue at play.

Have you checked the U4's downmix settings? (AUDIO on the remote in live TV or while in playback)

Have you tried connecting the U4 to a different HDMI input on your AVR?

I did connect the U4 to the TV and it is working. It appears the problem lies with my ancient Yamaha AV amp. Now to convince the wife I need a new one.
