What SATA controller version supported on T2/U4

Post by franc » Sat Sep 22, 2018 16:38

Hi Guys,
New to forum...
Have searched but cannot find, Hardware Support from Beyonwiz not available (on leave)...

Anyway I am planning on purchasing PVR either T2 or U4 barebonez. However I am unable to determine SATA controller version supported by mobo specifically whether SATA I, II or III? I checked the Baracouda drives available through Beyonwiz/Accessories and they support 6Gb/s however I would like to know what the actually speed is at the interface if any one can help would be most grateful.
Many thanx, in advance yours

The SATA version doesn't matter, all versions are intercompatible, and the SATA interface will be faster than the actual maximum transfer speed of any spinning platter drive anyway.

The U4 is SATA3 I believe. Not sure about the T2.

If you simultaneously record all channels from four different broadcasters, that can be no more than about 12.5MB/s. Each broadcaster has a little over 25Mb/s in total, so about 3.125MB/s per broadcaster or tuner, and about 12.5MB/s if you record everything from four different frequencies.

That is a tiny fraction of the slowest SATA bandwidth, and generally only a small fraction of te HDD's write throughput (which is generally considerably slower than the SATA bandwidth.
