U4 not finding NAS folders

Post by kjt005 » Mon Jun 01, 2020 12:58

Hello
I have a problem where I have a T4 and a U4 accessing the same network folders on a QNAP Nas

These were both working fine last week and then for some reason the U4 will no longer access the NAS folders.
it has issues trying to find the folders via the media menu

I have the same settings on both the T4 and the U4 with regard to the NAS access settings

i have factory reset and the fault is the same , nothing on the NAS has been changed.

any clues would help If i had hair I would be tearing it out.
I have had theis same problem with the U4 previously and cant remember what i dud to fix it.
Thanks
Ken

Firstly, did anything update recently? Firmware on the U4, or an update on the NAS?

When you go into the network browser when you go to create a mount on the U4, can the U4 find the NAS?
Do you give it a username and password when prompted, and then does it list the shares on the NAS?

Do you know if the NAS supports SMB2 or 3, or is it limited to SMB1?

nothing on nas or U4 changed.
i do not enter a username or password, i set it in the network browser where it asks so it does not require a password.
does this work differently to the T4 should I allocate a login username and password

No, this should be the same if you were running the same firmware on both.

So do you see the shares listed?

The SMB question related to a setting in the mount options. The latest firmware has a "vers=2.1" option. This tells the Wiz to only allow SMB 2.1 as a minimum, v which some NAS units don't support. That option is required off you want to be able to connect to Windows shares, but can be deleted for problematic NASs.

Use File Commander (Sources / Files) or telnet command line access and compare file /etc/auto.network of each box.

in the media screen i can only get as far as the media/net directories
( i can see the files and directories on the internal Hard drive ) fyi

the network browser shows the green circle on the share picture and the correct share and directory where the files are located.

I tried to login to the U4 and it is asking for a username and password , I don't know what they are?

That may be for NFS, though I'm not sure.
I've only experience with SMB/CIFS and autofs mounts.
