Autotimer Question
Autotimer Question
I have used autotimers only once before and to be honest I am a little overwhelmed with all the settings.
I have read 'autotimers are cool'.
So tonight I setup an autotimer for a show on SBS. I think one of my filters was an 'exact match' for the timespan.
But I can't be sure what time this programme will air next Wednesday. Maybe it will be the same time as tonight or maybe not?
1. How should I handle this? Do I ignore the timespan match as one of the filters?
2. Is there a general setting for matching the timespan or is it a somehow a default setting?
Your thoughts?

Re: Autotimer Question
If the show is coming on at vaguely the same time, be then just set the autotimer to look in a window of time that is a few hours long. Even setting a window of time that's 6 hours wide to capture a 1 hour show is usually enough to give you plenty of slack without the risk of false positives.
Be cautious of any "exact match" settings because often things like the show title can get changed if the channel feels like it wants to advertise "sneak peaks" and the like.

Re: Autotimer Question
You need to read this too - "A quick guide to Beyonwiz T series AutoTimers" by prl.

I wouldn't do an exact match on timespan. I very rarely use 'Only match during timespan', and I only use them when the event's short description is the same for every program (or more than 80% the same match) and there are encore showings I don't want a timer to be generated for (therefore a description uniqueness test can't be used to weed out the encores).
If you use it, make the span wide enough to cover the EPG event start.
Re: Autotimer Question
I would like to set my default Autotimers to record only from my Favorites. I only have 1 favorite list.
I have read several threads and for the life of me, I cannot get it to stick in the autotimer default settings?
Could I trouble you guys for some step by step instructions please?

Re: Autotimer Question
Open the Autotimer plugin interface from the Main Menu.
MENU->Autotimer
Open the timer default menu
MENU->Edit new timer defaults(7)
Open the "Add Services" interface
BLUE
Turn on "Enable service restrictions"
LEFT
Go down to the "Editing" field and change it from "Channels" to "Bouquets"
LEFT
Add your Favourites bouquet with the "New" button.
BLUE
Select "Favourites (TV)"
OK
Save that setting
GREEN
Then Save all the settings
GREEN
You can then close the Autotimer plugin
RED
Remember this will set the default bouquet for any new autotimers that you create. If you have any existing autotimers, you will need to edit those individually.

Re: Autotimer Question
The instructions given by MrQuade set the default bouquet for new AutoTimer definitions, so you'll have to edit your existing definitions one by one and make a similar change.
It is much easier to do that using OpenWebif, assuming your Wiz is connected to your home network.
Re: Autotimer Question
Thank you both. I'll give it a shot.
