How do I network my DP-P1?

Post by Richie » Fri Sep 11, 2015 18:09

I want to network my DP-P1 so I can play videos stored on my Laptop through my DP-P1. I have a TP-Link wireless modem router. My Windows 7 Laptop has a wireless connection to the TP-Link and the DP-P1 is connected to the TP-Link with an ethernet cable.

In the BW setup the Network Settings are LAN and DHCP enabled. The Windows Sharing has a default username and password of "admin". The Default Workgroup is blank.

When I go to BW Media/Network it shows no files. I press the Scan button (red) and it scans up to 49% then stops with no result. I press the Find Computer button (green) and enter the IP address "192.168.001.001" and I get a 'scan failure not found'.

What should I do next? Thanks!
Richard

Is the address "192.168.001.001" the IP address of your laptop or of your modem/router? It seems more likely that it's the modem router. Try using the network address of your laptop. It is likely to be 192.168.001.somethingElse

1. The green button does not work with Windows 7. The (red) Scan button does, it setup is satisfactory.
2. I have never had file sharing on a DP-P2 working without using the Windows Workgroup name entered in the BW setup.
3. If Workgroup name is "WORKGROUP" (without the quotes) then ensure that "Everyone" (without quotes) has read permissions on the Windows 7 shares you want to access with the BW. Otherwise, if any other Workgroup name, then ensure "Guest" (without quotes) has read permissions on the Windows 7 shares.

This is from experience with a DP-P2. Perhaps things are different with a P1, but I haven't seen anything here that suggests otherwise.

My P1 setup is as follows
Network Device LAN
DHCP Enable
IP Address 192.158.001.204 (this is the address I have assigned to the P1 in my R7000 router setup)
Subnet 255.255.255.000
Gateway 192.168.001.001

Under Windows sharing
Default user name netmask-pc ie the name of my computer
Default password - what I type in to log into my PC
Default Workgroup netmask-pc

It's been happily working like this for years
BeyonWiz T3 and V2
LED TV SONY Bravia 75" Local dimming ~ Retired Samsung ES8000 65" ~
Yamaha A1070 amp
Zidoo UHD3000
Qnap TS851-4G
Pioneer Bluray BDP-150-K
Windows 11 Professional
Netgear R7000
Chromecast

Hi,

I got it to work! Yah!

Setup:
Network Device LAN
DHCP Enable

Windows sharing:
Default username is the username of my PC account which is "Richard" (same as my computer name)
Default password is the password I use to log into my PC
Default Workgroup is "WORKGROUP"

To find media in the Network:
I use the red scan button

Thanks for your help.
Richard
