Problems with WIFI - DPS1

Post by np » Mon Jul 29, 2013 22:01

Hi Guys,

I have a DP-S1 which has been working fine for year. Recently moved and dont have an ethernet connection so i thought I would try Wireless. I cant seem to get it going, it keeps saying "link down"

I am using an Apple Airport Extreme with WPA2 security.

The following settings:

1. I scanned and it found my SSID
Network Type : Infrastructure
Authentication Type : Open
Encryption tyoe : AES
WPAPSK Key - my wifi password
I have manually set gateway/p addresses etc.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Nick

Try getting working without security to start with.

If that works try a lower level of security than WPA2, say WEP next.

Also which firmware are you running?

Am hoping i dont need to reconfigure my WIfi to get this going as I have a stack of devices hanging off it.

One way if you are adventurous. I believe the S1 is flaky with anything other than WEP.
Find a cheap wireless N router that can be be flashed with DD-WRT. Flash it and then set it up as a wireless bridge (client bridge). Read the DD-WRT wiki. You then have several sockets to Ethernet wire to. I have a P1, P2 and AV receiver in the 'TV' cabinet that can access the internet and stream from a NAS via the modem router in the next room.
cheers
Tony

If you've already got a Airport Extreme I'd suggest forgetting the S1's WiFi and get your self a Airport Express. I wrote a guide on how create a bridge setup with Airports a couple of years ago. The link is still on the forum but sadly the not where it was hosted. Send me a PM and I'll email it to you. It's dead simple to do, the express is pretty cheap and you'll be able to stream Airplay music to it as well with it's optical output.

Or if less adventurous, get a Netgear wnce2001 for $30-50. Does the same job. A cheap switch is required if you have more than one device in the cabinet.
