Advice on best way to setup a DPS1 for streaming to a PC

Post by JamesP » Thu Mar 08, 2012 01:21

Before I melt my poor little brain cells digging through the huge amount of info in this forum I would just like to know if what I am wanting to do is actually possible first.

What I'm looking to do is watch what is recorded on the BW through the PC and also control the BW from the PC.

I have the PC connected to a wireless router via an ethernet cable and can connect the router to the BW either wirelessly or by ethernet too. Which would be the easiest option?

Cheers.

Hi JamesP,

The only way I am aware of being able to stream Beyonwiz recordings to a PC is to use a user developed application known a WizPlayer. ( http://www.openwiz.org/wiki/WizPlayer ) I don't use this application so I know nothing more about it other than its existence.

Only you can decide what is easiest. I would suggest that two wireless links, even if they were both Wireless N, are not likely to be very workable in all situations. You would be better off exploring if you can run network cables between the router and the Beyonwiz as well as between the PC and the router.

Regards,
Ian.

Thanks Ian,

PC > ether > router > BW is probably safest given my level of technical aptitude!

I'll look into the WizPlayer too.

Cheers.

,,,and out of luck.

WizPlayer won't run on 64bit W7.

At this point I'm kinda wondering what the point of hooking a BW up to a PC is anyway. :)

You can still copy off files to watch them.

or install Yardwiz to do the transfer. The files will be MPEG TS and can be played with VLC
Have a look at the manual or the media guides, there is a wealth of information if you do a search

You can also play the files as you download them with YARDWiz without having to wait for the download to complete - http://code.google.com/p/yardwiz/wiki/H ... _recording
