DP-P1 and Windows 10

Post by djsoutham » Sun Jul 10, 2016 16:42

My P1 has been networked for ages and worked perfectly. Video files are stored on a USB drive hanging off the main PC and shared on the network. P1 sees the share and plays videos - All Good. Then I upgrade main PC to Windows 10. Under Win7 I was using Guest account but with Window 10 decided to create a BWizShare account on the main PC with a password. When this works its works perfectly but the P1 often hangs while attempting to access the shared folder. If I restart the P1 then scan for PC's and then access the folder it seems to work everytime but if the P1 has been on for while and the PC has been asleep then the P1 seems to hang trying to access the share. It may simply be running very slow (under Win 7 it loaded more or less straight away) but seems hung, so a forced shut down of the P1 is needed. Please help.

Do you still have fixed IP set for your P1 since the OS change?

I presume you mean fixed IP set in the router? Answer is No, just using DHCP.

That may be the cause or at least a factor. Works perfectly with DHCP.

Do you mean I should have a fixed IP address for the P1? Or I should be using DHCP? Sorry for the confusion.

Both.
Use DHCP and your router should also let you set or reserve an IP for all your devices.

If you post what router you are using, someone might be able to point you to the settings.

Thanks for the info. I have done both these things and it appears that it is working but taking a very long time - 5 to 10mins to load the folder list. Can I do anything to speed this up? Are there any limits to the number of files/folders it can read well?
