BUG/REQUEST: UHD Mode Causes Problems on U4 HDMI-IN

Post by MrQuade » Sat Mar 10, 2018 21:01

It is already known that if a T2 or T3 is plugged into a HDMI 2,0 port that support UHD Deep Colour mode, the T2/3 will lose all audio output capabilities via HDMI, and the colours will look darker than they should. The T4 and U4 do not suffer from this problem.

I have found that if a T2 or T3 is plugged into the U4's HDMI-IN port, while the U4's HDMI-OUT port is plugged into a HDMI 2.0 Deep Colour capable display, then the T2/3 will suffer from the same loss of audio and colour degradation problems. If the T2 or T3 is instead plugged into a T4, and the T4's HDMI-OUT is plugged into a HDMI 2.0 Deep Colour capable display, then the audio and colour problems are not observed.

Can anything be done on the U4's HDMI-IN port to insulate the T2/3 from the HDMI Deep Colour setting? Either the U4 is advertising its HDMI-IN port as being Deep Colour capable, or the Deep Colour capability is being passed on from the upstream video display device.
