Fallback Remote Receiver Setting

Post by scotty » Wed Apr 19, 2017 14:30

The description for the Fallback Remote Receiver setting gives an example of what needs to be entered. It doesn't mention at all you need to enter "http://" at the start of the address for the function to work.

Can the setting be changed so "http://" doesn't need to be entered, or at least the example in the description updated to include "http://"?

It has caught me out every time I have configured the setting.

The interface for the user for this has changed a number of times, with, I think, most changes not being backwards compatible.

The most recent log entry for the description text says that it was updated in January to read

"Specify the complete URL of the fallback remote receiver including the port number (:8001 by default), e.g. 'http://IP_second_box:8001'."

from

"Specify the complete URL of the fallback remote receiver including the port number (:8001 by default), e.g. 'IP_second_box:8001'."

but it's the old text that actually appears in the firmware. I've found that since the big upstream merge that peteru did, the repository logs are sometimes at odds with what's actually in the repository.

The fix also makes the Fallback remote receiver URL item only appear if the Fallback remote receiver is enabled.
